Hi

Have been working on my swing for a while now and starting to like what I see.

Though there are a few things that I still want to get better on.

This is my own thoughts about my swing:

  • Need to get my backswing little more on plane.
  • Want to hold on and not release the club so quickly. Still think I have some tendency to scoop sometimes.
  • Stop standing om my toes in the down swing.
  • More weightshift forward in the downswing.

What should i put most work into? Or is there something else that I missed, that is worth putting ahead besides what i just wrote?

Posting a face on and down the line video for you to watch.

DTL

Face on

Seen on DTL:  Left arm comes off torso early in the backswing and clubhead and shaft get behind the hands early.  I really like your position at :06 and :07 on the DTL, but then you lift up a bit making the backswing too long resulting in a hint of over the top to initiate the forward swing.

Face On:

Big move off the ball, but you do a good job of getting your hips forward again into impact (but could go more forward)  Great extension with the legs and arms into impact.  Haven't seen too many others that are up on their left toes at impact--it's unusual looking and may suggest that you need more force and weight with the lower body heading in a forward vector at impact (instead of up).

Thanks for the reply

The things you mention are stuff that I have been working on the past couple of month.

A year ago I hade big problems with these things:

  • My right arm was way more of from my body and i lifted my club and came over the top like you wouldnt believe.
  • I shifted my weight to my right foot and made a big "sway" in the swing.
  • Had an overswing that made my clubhead point down at the ground.

I still working on this everytime om the range

    • Part of the clubmaker's process, in this case, is to have the player come back after a few rounds for any necessary tweaking, FWIW.
    • I totally agree with this but beginners are not good players that can adjust to almost every club setup.  A ping certified fitter, ex pro that plays at my home course, told me that the idea of the fitting in this case is to give the player the clubs that are at least suited for his body type in general. (body, arms, hands, strength, speed, etc) so he can go an play or have lessons with clubs that are not perfect for him but close enough. From there is up to the player to come back for another fitting in the future in case he feels his current clubs are no longer suited for his new swing/mechanics.  So.. I vote basic club fitting then lessons.
    • Okay, so my children and I got into a heated debate at the dinner table last night.  We were discussing making Christmas Cookies and got on the topic of what is the best cookie.  I personally think the Oatmeal Raisin is the best. My kids mocked me. "THAT'S AN OLD MAN COOKIE!"  Seriously? Does anyone besides me love the Oatmeal Raisin Cookie?  And if not, what is the best cookie?

    • Day 3: 12/12/2024 Okay, so I've already put in about a 1/2 hour of mirror work on my priority piece which I've nicknamed PPJ. The first to P's are starting to feel less bizarro but the J is still too late. As of now, I'm still thinking about it too much. So, although I'm anxious to hit balls, I'm sticking with the mirror work for another day or two. Then I'll move to the garage net.  I set up a small station right outside my office so every time I go in or out I can do a slow-mo PPJ in front of a mirror.
