Hey everybody...

So, it's Monday... and all I can think about is this upcoming Sunday.  Our club season started on Sunday, 4/3/2011 but I was away with my family for a vacation (not that this is a reason to complain) so I missed the round.  In my absence, a blind 83 was posted for my doubles partner, and he ended up having a tough time and losing by a few holes.  My absence also posted me an automatic loss for the year in singles.

This means that I open the season at one of my favorite courses in the North Jersey area... and it's the scene of my first ever ace last year on 4/25/2010.  I actually posted the best net score that day, but due to club rules (a handicap verification period), I was ineligible for the win.

That said... I returned to the range for the first time since the middle of March (because of the vacation) and I was really, really striking the ball well today.  Especially with my driver.  I was carrying the ball about 240-250 today... and I don't know if it was just adrenaline, being back with the club in my hand, or if it was the warmer weather.  Either way... it felt GOOD.

Now I'm overly excited about Sunday and I can't get the thought out of my mind.  I need distractions that aren't golf related... and the golf tournament that was on TV yesterday was NOT a good non-golf related distraction!

Work SHOULD do the trick, but I can't concentrate on that either, being my first day back after vacation.

This is killin' me!

Singles/Doubles? What sort of format do you guys play?

Each player is teamed up with someone else... and each week, we play a low net tournament, where, obviously... the lowest net score wins the tournament.  The top 10 scores earn points in a season long format where the top 12 players earn their way on to a Ryder Cup style team and then we play against another club for a rotating trophy.

Every week, you are also playing a singles match against an opponent in your foursome as well as you and your partner playing a doubles match against the other team.  Both are match play formats.

Sometimes it makes it difficult because you may choose to play conservative for the sake of your doubles partner... which may cost you the singles match or maybe even the low net title.  But since everybody is playing the same formats every week... it's an even playing field.

I love the club... we have a ton of good guys in it.  Since last year, I've seen winning net scores range from 62 to 72.  The majority are in the 66 to 69 range... so depending on the weather, you kind of know what you need to shoot to have a shot.
