More of a rant than a question.

Finally getting to play again after a long winter.  I didn't touch a club from October through March and have just been able to spend some quality time on the course in the past six weeks or so.  I've played probably 8 or 9 rounds this season.

I got my handicap down to a 7.8 last year but have been struggling to break 90 thus far. My best round so far was +15 but even that was pretty schizophrenic with a 47 front (+11) and 40 back (+4).  Needless to say, the back half of that round was probably more luck than skill as the rest of my rounds so far have been slightly worse than bogey golf.

It's just so frustrating not being able to execute shots that used to be so easy, especially when it comes to getting up and down from an easy position or sitting on top of a ball from 140 and in.  Double bogeys used to be a once per round exception but lately I've been racking up 5 or 6 per round without doing anything majorly wrong (no penalty strokes, etc).  It's like I've totally forgotten how to score.

I know that practice makes perfect that that I just need to put in the time but still, why can't golf be easier?  More importantly, why do I keep coming back to a game that tortures me so much?

Anybody else hate early season golf as much as I do?

looking at my GHIN history from last year i had 20 rounds posted in the fall with one round of 91 and the other 19 in the 80's, 12 of them 86 or lower. This spring i posted 6 rounds in the 80's and then left for a trip to Mytrle Beach...7 rounds later i had 7 consecutive rounds iin the 90's!!!!!!!!! WTF

yes the drinking does come into play to certain level but last year i made the same trip to mostly the same courses and came home with a 79, 80, 81 and a couple of throw away rounds. Yes right now today i hate golf.

I did do the only logical thing i could think of to help fix the problem, i bought a new 60 wedge (to replace the one that broke...over my knee) a new R11 because they look cool and everyone has one it seems and different shoes....just cause i kind of needed them anyway!!

I assume everything will be fine this week when i T it up again!

Yup, I'm still knocking the rust off the game after a 4+ month hiatus.  However, my first two rounds of the season were my best scoring wise, although I didn't feel the best.  I chalk it up to not having any negative or excessive swing thoughts in the noggin.

Once it warms up, and I get out there more often, I expect the HC to improve, as well as my feel and mind set (fingers crossed).

Nice.  I also assume my clubs have been the root cause and just invested in a 15 degree 910F and a 19 degree 910H.  Those should get me back on the right track!

another wise man!!

i think i found the problem to my swing aside from the actual clubs not working properly. somehow i got into sliding backwards during my take away...Phucked everything up, as soon as i realized it and started turning it was like a light going on. I am such a dope it took me 7 rounds to figure that out...but i got a nice new driver out it!!!!  Whoohoo all good.
