Hi, my names Loren, i'm new to the forum. I've been playing for about 15 years, but only had about 4 years where i played consistantly. Shot a 73 on an easy course, but averaged 85-90ish in that time when i played more than usual. I'm now starting to play a bit more. I'm trying to figure out what to work on/change in my swing. I shoot 90s-100s now and my main problem is when i get tired or shoot shots that are slightly less than full power i tend to shank them. Example, today i was at the range and hit about 15 PW shots 100-110 about where i wanted them to go. Then as I started getting tired (not too noticably though) I shanked about 30 in a row and couldn't stop. Normal PW goes about 125-130 yards.

I have a video of my swing which isn't the greatest quality and its only for the driver. But hopefully you guys can let me know what you think. Added a shank from last year, was either a 6 or 7 iron. I need some help with getting slow motion.

Also, looking for advice on editing videos for slow motion...

Just found a lesson that says the shanks can be caused from standing too close to the ball or your body falling towards the ball on the back swing or forward swing. Seems like this "could" be the problem. When I'm tired I may be focusing on staying down on the ball but probably don't rotate enough and kinda fall into the ball.

I also may need to focus on squaring the back of my left hand to the target

Not sure how to fix it but your Driver shot appears to be Open Faced at contact. This can have something to do with grip or where the ball is in your stance but again I'm no expert, I do know and Open face when i see one though :D

Maybe someone more knowledgeable can comment one why that is but I'm pretty sure you face is a bit open.

An open face could have just as easily cause your iron shot to go that way also.

Maybe you open the face when your tired?

Well, I actually hit the driver shot quite well. My buddy was filming at an angle that points left of my aim point. I probably hit it about 20 yards to the right of my exact aim point. But over 225-250 yards that isn't too bad of a miss. The ball had no hook or slice on it. Thanks for the replies. I'll remember to make sure I get a consistent position away from the ball. (not really sure how exactly to do that.

At further inspections it really looks like my spine angle is a lot more over the ball on my short iron shot compared to the driver. Should it be that much different?

I'll work on finding a time to get some better videos in the next week.

Thanks again

I feel like when I hit my shanks I might shift my weight to the left at the start of my downswing and alter the lowest point of my swing to the left of the ball. thoughts?

Also looks like I don't rotate my hips much at all. Just saw some lesson on needed to clear the hips on the back swing and follow through to give yourself room to hit the ball

I went to the range yesterday and was really having problems with all my irons, I was having lots of shanks and low slice hits. I hit a few five woods and most were a lot cleaner. I really need to find some specific things to work on in my swing when I get to the range. I went outside and took some swings with my G wedge, 4 iron, and driver and then gave a view of my grip at the end of the video. If anyone has any ideas of swing thoughts, fixes to focus on, grip changes, etc. I would really appreciate it, thanks!

Well, I think I definitely need to

1) Keep my left arm straighter

2) make sure my club doesn't go past parallel at the top

3) get my arms more vertical at the the top of my swing

4 iron down swing with shaft line.JPG

the shaft line looks WAAAAAAAAAAAAY too far inside at this point in the swing. seems impossible to close the face from this position
