Will a 15g increase in grip weight make much difference to a club's performance?

During practice today I started to notice that my TM Superfast Burner 4H was slipping during my swing. On closer examination it seems that what I initially thought was white coming off my glove was in fact a lack of rubber on the stock Winn Lite grip that came on the club and the underneath cord was showing. Little wonder it was slipping!

I took a look at the grips available in the pro shop as a replacement and opted for the GP Tour Velvet which is being fitted later today.

I thought I'd do a little research to see if others have had similar problems and accidentally noticed the weight difference between the old and new:

Winn Lite - 30g

GP Tour Velvet - 45g - 51.5g (unsure specifically as I don't know which version will be fitted)

The question I have is will the weight change make much difference to the club's performance for a high handicapper like me?

5 gr grip = 1 swing weight point Thus, by adding 15g to your grip, your SW will go down roughly 3 points. If you were at D2 before, you'll be at C9 now. Hard to say if it will make a difference to you or not. Depends on how much you can feel the difference and if the feel throws you off one way or another. Quite honestly, the vast majority of golfers don't notice a 3 point difference in SW. For some though, the difference in feel is substantial.
