Gerald, didn't you just get your Ci9s?  If you're set on playing blades for fun I say dust off the W/S Fluid Feels-I played a set of those for two months earlier this year and found them about as easy to hit as any other blade I've ever tried.

Yepppp .... I like the Ci9's and at the moment if I play a tournament or monthly medal these are the sticks I will be using, but they are more like a midsize GI iron, than "control" irons. The Ci9's are great for hitting straight shots and they are lonnng aswell (very strong lofts)...... less workable than marketing suggests.

I actually am playing the old Fluid Feel Staff Tour Blades also at the range, mostly to gain accuracy, and played a few practice rounds with them ..... strange thing is ..... I am scoring better with these old worn blades (mine look awful, they have been beaten up and sitting in the garage for 20+ years......). But I have to get used to the "new" distances of the Ci9's.

Playing so well with the old Staffs, made me think of buying a similar set in a better condition, or a Hogan Apex or Apex II or any of the more classic Miz MP blades and one of the local clubmembers is selling a nice set of 2009 FG59's in a nice condition ...... haven't hit them yet, but they look great.

I was just wondering if anyone played these and what they thought of them, but it appears only 750 sets were made, maybe the slightly longer FG62 is a better choice, although the Fluids are also quite small blades.

What I like in the blades ...... maybe the higher center of gravity keeps the balls a bit down.....

    • I appreciate that you have taken the time to come back and update. Based on what was previously discussed I feel like the points were; forged, feel good, price, and possibly players distance. If you like the "looks" of those Maxfli irons and if price is a major point, then going straight to the source, Maltby, might make sense. Specifically, the TS3 iron. I was looking into this myself and found some reviews: Fit2YouGolf, Lets Play Thru, and ELITE FIT GOLF. As per your update I found the Maxfli to be ~$1300 fitted the way I wanted. Where the TS3 with the same fitting and assembled by Golfworks was less than $750. I suppose the downside is to actually hit the iron you will need to get lucky and find someone in your golf circle who will let you hit theirs or order a 6 or 7 iron to test. However, the way I look at that is being equivalent to some fittings. If you like the results and buy, then the fitting is free, otherwise the price of the fitting is a sunk cost. If name brand is important, then I submit for your consideration - THE BEST OVERALL IRON of 2024...... FACT !! 😉 A bit tongue in cheek that but also, I feel some good points were discussed.
    • Day 150 1-10 focus on arching the wrist and getting the ball to go left. Recorded, hit foam balls.
    • Day 467 - 2026-01-10 Practiced at Pinehurst every day I was there, and before Junior Elite this morning I got fifteen minutes of backswing checks in the mirror in.
