New 3 Wood....Felt Great!

I have been struggling big time with my driver lately, major slice and barely 200 yards for distance, if I'm lucky. Was only hitting about 2 or 3 fairways. I decided to finally take it right out of my bag and started using an older 3 wood I have that is a stiff shaft and is quite old. Was hitting it really well, around 210 yards on average. I have been only missing about 2-3 fairways the past couple of weeks which has made a huge difference, obviously. I decided to upgrade to a newer style 3 wood. Our local pro builds clubs so I ordered components that were similar to the Ping K15. I had him put a regular flex shaft on it and just went out with it today for the first time and holy cow. Our course markers for 150 yards to the green are extremely accurate. Taking my distance in front or behind the 150 yard markers I was hitting it off the tee around 230 yards and about 215 off the deck, couldn't believe it. And my accuracy was extremely good, I could work the ball very well. I plan to order the same series for the driver later this week as I am instead of buying off the shelf, ordering a head and shaft fit for my swing which should take care of my issues with the driver.

Anyway, just had to share my latest news :)  Can't wait to get out and play a full round tomorrow with it as I only played four holes this evening, plus it was cold and dreary out so I still could see a couple more yards with it on a nice day.

Very nice... I tend to find that with 3 woods, the shot is either great or horrible... rarely do I hit an "ok" shot with one, so to find a great 3 wood is an awesome thing.

Also, you said that the components were "similar" to the Ping K15.... just curious, who actually makes them?

I bought the parts from monarkgolf.com and it's the Turbo Power R-15 and the shaft is an Aldila. I plan to get the same brand for my driver but will be getting a different shaft that's a bit lighter.
