Went out earlier today for a practice round, short 9 hole course nearby. It's the first time I've seen my own swing on video in almost a year, and as usual it yielded some surprises. I was striking it very well and had my best round on that particular course, 8 pars, one bogey, but there's one or two little things bothering about my swing.

One thing is my hip movement. I make a pretty agressive push towards the target with the hips and legs, but as you can see from the videos, the hips aren't that open at impact. I try to spin them but it feels like most of the movement is gone into pushing them towards the target, by which time my hands are already almost at impact. I hit the ball pretty far, but I feel like I could get a few more yards with the hips more open at impact. I also have a very slight push on occasion. I don't know if that's got anything to do with the hips not being very open. I can't see anything else that might be causing it.

This drive carried around 275, slight push.

3wood off the tee, perfectly straight. Again though, the hips don't look very open.

Face On 5 Iron. Something I hate in my swing is the roll of my right foot. It was never an intentional thing, just came about naturally. I feel like my swing might be a bit more solid and balanced if I could lessen the foot movement. Are there any drills I could do to stop rolling it so much?

Any thoughts are very much appreciated!

a push is normally caused by two things in my experience. ball too far back(edit), or upper body moving forward in the downswing.

Interesting.

Well it's definitely not the ball position, as I usually have it centred to slightly forward. The upper body moving forward is quite likely alright. You can kind of see it in the face on video. When I get to the top of the swing, my back moves towards the target ever so slightly. Could be the cause I suppose but I'm not sure. Thanks for your reply.

Anyone got any more suggestions?

I went to the range today, and I was pushing everything. From Driver to wedge, and to be honest I'm a little lost as to why. It's very frustrating. I understand that the push is from an in to out swing path with a square face, but I can't figure out what exactly in my body motion is causing that.

I've read several times that the hips getting too far forward can cause a push. Am I pushing them too much towards the target and not spinning them enough?

This is a freezeframe (Awful quality, I know) close to impact on an iron shot.

Should my hips at impact be more open and less ahead of the ball than they are?

I'd really appreciate any insight anyone has into this, as right now I'm pretty lost on how to fix that push. Thanks.
