I bought a Titleist 905R from my friend at a very low price but the stock shaft he had was too heavy for me (Speeder Shaft 78grams). I plan to replace the shaft in the 67grams range and I was wondering which would be a right shaft that can be suitable for borethrough design at a decent price.

Or will it make much difference if I just play with the current shaft and get used to it?

This is a reg asked question, what my best advice would be get fitted by pro/clubfitter. With launch monitor tech as it is today Clubfitters have means to fit just about every shaft on the market today. With the right launch monitor and software that fitter can show you the best shaft for you and your swing.

We say this because there is not just one right shaft for this swing speed or that tempo. Anyone who claims they can fit you with the best shaft without a launch monitor is at best just giving you an educated guess..

If you do not like the speeder than I doubt you will like the popular V2 because it is a stout beast in the 905R. I have seen many who are very happy going with the GD YS-6+ shaft in the 905R. I play an Accuflex Evolution Lite in mine, but would also consider the Aldila NVS. I really think you should try the GD YS-6+. My buddy just switched out his V2 for the YS-6+ and is very, very pleased. He is a scratch golfer as well, so it has little to do with one's ability to play, just feel.

Thanks for the very helpful reply bames. BTW, have you tried with Aldila NV shafts? Thanks.

No I haven't. I am a low ball hitter by nature with my driver, and all that I read about the NV has kept me away. It seems to be an interesting shaft though. I hear so many who are very happy with it, but at the same time so many who absolutely hate it. The only other shaft I have seen with such mixed reviews would probably be the V2, but I think that has much to do with whether or not it is played in a bore-through or not. Also, the only guy I've actually played golf with who loved the shaft was a college golfer who murders the ball. And he hit that thing dead straight. The YS-6+ on the other hand rarely has poor reviews, only that it "seems" to play a little soft.
