So, I pick up the new Taylor Made Superquad today (10.5, R), and the damn snow here in Pennsylvania does not want to melt

There is no place for me to hit this club (other than my basement) - all driving ranges and course in a 75-mile radius are closed!

A buddy and I are now pretty stir crazy, and are contemplating a day trip on Saturday to the Maryland shore. I mean we are now looking at NOAA satellite images of US Snow cover. I now have to convince my wife that a 10-hour road trip (golf included) is a sane idea - just looking for dry land...

I'll post my initial thoughts on the driver if I play. I guess I should be grateful I don't live in Oswego, NY -- 110" in seven days !!

In SA we play golf all year round. I know that is NOT what you want to hear right now , but I've been listening to all grumbles about the daaa-yum snow, and I now appreciate the fact that we have some awesome weather. Took it for granted previously, not anymore though...

I got my Mizuno driver on a day that it rained. Rain kept up for two days, nearly drove me out of my mind! And that was only for TWO days!

And I see no problem with a 10 hour roadtrip...

probably another thing you don't want to hear

but up on boston, we have several driving ranges (covered and heated) open year round. surprised you don't have the same. anyway, the best way to convince your wife is to get her bitten by the golf bug as well! but for more immediate needs...maybe stay over a night or two in MD and do some touristy stuff there. maybe then she'll let you sneak a couple hours of golf in.

I am envious of your driving ranges..

Regarding Maryland, unfortunately my wife has seen just about everything. There is also the issue of a 2-year old, so her tagging along is tough. Like the snow, she's gradually thawing to the idea, and if there is a course open, it looks like I might be able to go

You think Pennsylvania is bad, try Michigan.

I am literally going insane .

I also have a handfull of drivers I would like to demo,(purchasing in the spring) and I am getting sick of being patient.

On springbreak I will play golf. My only saving grace.

To make my frustration even worse, the snow finally let up and we saw some snow melting and some grass spots . The very next morning a 2 hr delay of school because of snow .

If you don't have snow where you live and just want to tell us how sweet it is , don't post in this thread. I get enough of that from my relative in Arizona.

while we don't have it as bad as the poor folks in oswego, we got nailed pretty good in valentine's day, all of 30" in one day, and it ain't goin' away any time soon. i just heard of one of those indoor places in a nearby town where you can play all these different courses on some screen or something like that. i may have to check it out to ease my urge to swing a club. cabin fever bad this winter.

    • Day 48. Got out at lunch to the range to hit some driver shots. Haven’t had much practice there. Focused on setup suggested by @iacas and found some very playable results. I did try to hit a couple of bunker shots after that with much less success 🙃
    • Got a rare birdie on #18 Par 5.  Drive was good and left me in range of the green.  I was @ 210 from the center and needed @ 180 to clear a hazard area.  Green had bunkers lest, right and on back. had been struggling and most shots were short so I took the 225 club figuring back of green hit well. i did hit it well, @ 229 per SS and dead on—kind at the pin.  Ended up @ 1 foot off the back in short rough and lucky for me it was a back pin placement.  Chipped about 15 feet leaving a 3 feet putt for par which I sunk.
    • Yea, so to clarify for me. I do not feel the clubface much in the swing. I feel the weight of the club. I can feel if I hit the club off the heel or toe. When I try to feel if the clubface is open or closed in the swing, I feel it more with my hands, and less of the clubhead. I would classify majority of my swings as not feeling like the clubface does much of all. It feels like I hold the clubface open. In the finish, it doesn't feel like my left hand faces the ground. It feels more like it faces the sky. I will try to be more aware of this, but it was just the sensation I got when I was making what felt like good swings. For the most part, I was hitting slight draws or slight pushes.  On this golf trip, I had to hit a low 8 iron around a tree to the green. I made an alignment adjustment, and actively try to roll my hands a bit more to get it to sling around the corner. I do have a habit of not adjusting how the clubface comes through impact, and I can still hit the ball straight-ish even moving the ball way back in my stance and trying to swing out more.  Yea, my feels are more hands and arms, less actually feeling the clubface.
