Ok I just got back into golf about a month ago when my 12 year old wanted to play this dinky par 3 by our house. I recently bought us both memberships at a local course. I bought these clubs years ago and all my clubs are fine except my driver. It's a taylormade driver but every time I hit it I'm in the woods to the right. As much as I love walking through the woods looking for my ball I figure my 2nd shot might be easier from the fairway instead of the gofer hole. Before anyone says it yes I know a new more forgiving driver will not cure my slice but a moe forgiving one might help none the less. Right now I'm considering the Nike victory red or the R11 but thought I would get suggestions also. Wednesday I'm going to a sporting goods store and test hit some before I buy, also not real sure on shaft either. I don't think I swing very hard but that might be because I'm afraid of killing wildlife in the woods. Amy suggestions would be appriciated.

Get test fitted.  Be careful about this though, I find that they have a tendency to recommend the clubs they are pushing.  For Example Dicks Sporting goods is going to recommend a R11.  If you are new to the sport the biggest head you can get is going to halp you reduce spin and cut down on you slice.

I might recommend some lessons from the pro of that club.  Lessons are going to make the biggest differnce.

That's actually where I'm going, dicks. I'm also not going to buy the one they are pushing just because they say it's good, I plan on spending a couple of hours there. The whole lesson thing does not intreats me though at least not yet. I'm not super serious about this game, I do it for fun and to spend time with my son. Just wanted a driver to help me keep it closer to the fairway on missed drives.

    • I never heard dislike for them.  From my perspective, they are just like any other club. Though, they were always probably over-priced, until recently as other club manufacturers have been raising prices the past 5+ years. You had to wait for them to go on sale, which you can get them closer to other club manufacturers.  They sell good clubs. Nothing crazy..
    • Why do so many people dislike PXG clubs and constantly criticize them? All the folks at my club and especially online, I never hear good things about them except from people who bought them and defend them. They look fine to me but curious is there some sort of quality issue or is it just stereotyping the buyers.
    • I have the LM1 launch monitor and I’ve been very impressed. I agree with your assessment and it’s very accurate for me and ease of use is wonderful. The price point of $199 is very hard to beat with this form factor and performance. I was previously using a PRGR.
