where something clicks? I've been struggling with fat contact for awhile, and after seeing this video my wife took in Palm Desert last weekend (which was actually a decent shot) I realised I was throwing the club outside on the downswing and unhinging early. My misses have been pulls or fat shots, so it made sense.

I started working on keeping the tension out of my wrists and giving the hands the "free ride" that Ben Hogan talked about, starting the downswing with my left side. It was a strange feeling as I'm used to trying to kill it (as you can see in that video ). The crazy thing was the ball started going further than I've ever hit it... way further. I was airmailing the 150 marker with a 9 iron hitting limited flight range balls - and the weird thing was I wasn't chasing distance, just trying to improve the quality of the contact and flatten out my ball flight a little. Weird experience.

Now I just hope it's still there when I go to the range tomorrow.

The teacher that I'm working with describes the grip pressure that you should have as 'Canary' hands. Meaning that you should hold the club as if it was a little yellow Canary- through out the swing. It works excellent! If I start mis-hitting shots I just think about canary hands and BAM, good shot. Also, the loosest clubs in your bag are the driver and wedges. Furthermore, canary hands works with my putting too.
