Spoke to one of my friend in club fitting business and he told me that the driver should have the lightest swing weight.

For example:
Driver - D0
Fairway - D2
Hybrid - D2
Irons - D3
Wedges - D5

I thought all swing weights have to be equal (except for wedges) so lets say if it's at D2 for driver, it's D2 all the way to 9 iron or pitching wedge. Which is correct? Thanks.

Play what works for you. Davis Love has a heavier swingweight in his driver than in his irons. Arron Oberholser doesnt. I wouldnt argue with either of them.

Neither is correct. Ziophils is right, your clubs should feel "just right" in your hands, and should feel like they match your normal swing tempo.

Clubs that have a low swingweight are probably a good idea for players with a slower or smooth tempo, as they will help generate a bit more clubhead speed. A strong player with a fast tempo would probably find a low swingweight club to feel difficult to control. But there are no absolutes on this issue. As you may know, swingweight and total weight are not related, and you can certainly have club that is very heavy and still swingweights at D-0. Most folks like the driver a bit on the lower swingweight because it feels easier to get a little more clubhead speed without swinging hard, and most players tend to like a bit more "heft" in the wedges because they feel more solid that way. Different strokes for different folks!

    • Going to go against the grain a bit here and say that pain isn't as severe as we think it is sometimes.  A lot of times if something has been there for a long time it is really neurological.  Unless a sports med tells you it's likely to tear I would keep going with physio until a doctor tells you not to.  Good luck
    • I just wanted to post an update here.. so the person telling me that information was incorrect. They mixed up two of the courses that we play during our competition rounds and the one we played last weekend was NOT a non-smoking course.  I was also wrong in thinking that he was a member of said club, but he wasn't.. he's a member of a completely different club in our tournament pool.   The course that we will play next weekend is the one with the strict smoking ban and they have stated this clearly in their local rules.  The main reason for this is that there is a very high risk of forest fires in the area where this course is located at, so it's not to promote "health and wellbeing", but purely based on safety.
