Ok getting back into the game after many years of not playing.  Started in May of this year and have been bitten by the bug.  I used to play to a 9 consistently and prided myself on driving the ball in play most times.  Wasn't extremely long but could keep up.  I found that the first shot on any tee if it was good I usually played the hole well, hence driving the ball being paramount to my game.

Well as stated started this year in May and totally sucked.  I mean it was so damn embarrassing the first several times just hitting balls let alone playing well to say the least I was frustrated.  Until I was clued into something I was missing when I was watching a tournament on the GC.  I can't even tell ya what tourn. or the player's name, but he seemed to set his driver about 4" or so behind the golf ball.  I thought that odd so did a search on the Inet about golf lessons and driving the ball etc and found Center of Gravity golf, and it looked like what that pro was doing was what this guy was teaching on line.

Put the ball tee'd up of course in the center of your stance, point your left to the left and step back with the right foot to just abit wider than shoulder width.  Club rests behind the ball about 4" or so.  Take a swing and voila good solid contact each and every time.  Weird but true.  I also use this method when hitting my woods off the deck.  3 or 5 it seems to work decent.  Anyways that's all I gotta say on this.  Works for me and works well.  thanks

Reminds me alot of what Jack Nicklaus had to say about ball position. He said he would set up to the ball in the same position relative to his left foot every time. The only difference from club to club being how much he widened his stance with the right foot. That way, the bottom of his swing happened at the same place every time.

Your desire to change has to be greater than your desire to stay the same.

I don't understand what you are trying to say. I feel like this will help me if I did.

    • Day 22: mirror work for a while. Working on my elbow in the downswing - keeping it in a better position.
    • Day 36 (16 Dec 25) - continued the exaggerated left foot weight shift trigger adding some easy low flighted pitches with the 5h and a few putting style bump and runs with the 5h as well.

    • Has anyone played the new Maxfli forged irons? For the first time in I don't know how many years, they have come out with new clubs. From what I read, Maxfli was bought by Taylor Made a long time ago which then took all of their ball making technology and patents in order to get into that market. The club business was left to whither and the reorganized company, now a part of Dicks / Golfworks / Maltby, is producing these new clubs. (Their Tour X balls which I play are really good.) Anyway, I tried them both out at Golf Galaxy. There's a player's distance iron (XC-3) and a blade (XC-2) and both feel really, really nice, almost "Mizuno-like" in their soft buttery feel and they're a bargain at $800 for a set. I'm planning to ditch my Titleist's and want to go back to a forged iron. I almost pulled the trigger on the Mizuno Pro-245's last summer, but a damaged tendon sheath in my finger combined with a back injury messed up my golf game so I held off. Now the Pro-245's are no longer available, soon to be replaced by the MX-15. (At twice the price of the Maxfli's...that's what got my attention in the first place.) If anyone has played with the new Maxfli's or just tried them out like I did, let me know what you think.
