Hi guys,

As I continue trying to figure out how to get myself on the Black, a buddy posed an interesting question: if you have the PIN number or ID to call the bethpage reservation system, does that person have to show up to play? Like if I had a knucklehead call the line and book a foursome, does that same knucklehead have to be present or can a foursome have nothing to do with who made the reservation?

Thanks as always...

Your NY drivers license # is your pin #.Do not really know what out of towners use but it must have name and picture and he must be there.By the way it opens on 4/13

like was said, your # is your NY State Lic #. but you have to get put in the system at the office. out of towners cant use the system unless you still have NY State ID.

Yes, whomever books the time has to be in the group and must register at the office 1 hr before teeing off or the time will be put back into the system.

if youre a single, black in pretty easy to get on. Weekends (depending on the weather) you can usually get off in the early afternoon.

For 1-2pm times, i usually show up round 11am and grab one, hit balls and putt then hang out at the starter, i usually get out a bit earlier.

if u want to play with a group or a 2, then as a walk up you'll have probs, but as a single its easy. Same with the Old Course.

Thanks a lot guys. Definitely makes perfect sense that the person making the tee time has to be there to play...I tried convincing my buddy that he's not quite smart enough to game a system notorious for not being gamed, but he still wanted to know it first-hand.

Thanks for the walk-on info too. I may just leave his butt at home and go the single route myself.

Oh yeah, is the Black open 7 days a week or is it closed every Monday or something...?

Yes the Black is closed on Monday unless it is a holiday week then call ahead or if they have a tourney.

I've played the Red course before, how much more difficult is the Black? Curious to know, I'd like to give the Black course a go this year.

I had heard that there is a handicap index requirement to play on the Black. Is this true? If so, what is the requirement?

Nope just money and plenty of golf balls.

By the way the Red is a awesome course but is playable for most golfers. The Black on the other hand has many 220 yard forced carries just to make the fairway so yes it is considerably harder than the Red.I will say the last 2 or 3 years the greens on the Red have been better than the Black.

    • Day 203 (21 Nov 24) - Weekly nine hole round with my good friend.  Played it as a 7 club challenge (7w, 5h, 7i, 9i, GW, LW, putter).  As we were playing up a set of tees, no super loss of distance off the tee.  Had some good looks at birdie, failed to convert.  These sessions with fewer clubs really helps with course management.
    • Tell me about it - shouldn’t have second guessed…
    • My wife is going to drag me to see Wicked.   She is very excited to see it.   We saw the musical while in Chicago and thought it was very good.  I'm not usually a fan of musicals but I'm looking forward to seeing this.   Gladiator 2 does look good.   I'm going to go back and watch the original Gladiator before going to the theater.
    • MSN Glover expressed his dissatisfaction with what he termed as 'cool kid meetings' between Jordan Spieth, Patrick Cantlay, Tiger Woods and other high-profile golfers. "I think it's terrible," he stated. "And then hiding behind pace of play, I think, challenges our intelligence. They think we're stupid.     "Don't cut fields because it's a pace of play issue. Tell us to play faster, or just say you're trying to appease six guys and make them happy so they don't go somewhere else and play golf." Fitzpatrick joined the conversation on X (formerly Twitter), with the 30-year-old echoing Glover's sentiments regarding the PGA Tour changes. "He's so right," Fitzpatrick posted. "Pathetic that pace of play is spoken about every year and nothing ever gets done."     I agree. Instead of  penalizing  players for  turtle  play they appease the  slow jerks  by  cutting the  fields. They will play even slower  knowing they will NEVER be  penalized.
    • I've been Playing Golf for: 3 years  My current handicap index or average score is: 1.5 My typical ball flight is: neutral /slight draw The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: hook   Looking for some advice please folks. Started golfing three years ago and got hooked. Had some early lessons and was a slicer etc.  I used to have a severe inside takeaway and through working hard to fix as ever (this game…) it’s now gone too far the other way where I take it back way outside.  i think it looks really bad and have gotten a lesson last year where we tried to competely reset the swing and it ruined things for months as I couldn’t get it to stick (my fault).    anyway do I need to fix this? I hit it reasonably solid but don’t know what else I’m looking at or need to clean up. All opinions welcomed!  Videos:
