i stopped playing golf way back when i was a kid still and have recently come back to the beautiful game!

when i stopped playing my clubs were as follows;

Driver : Titleist 975J with a 75 stiff shaft 10.5*

3 Wood: Cleveland Launcher 15* stock stiff shaft (i think these were the first models of the launcher series)

Irons: Titleist 990's with precision rifle 5.5

wedges: i stole my old man's CG 12's at 52*, 60* stock R-Flex

Putter: Scotty Cameron Newport it's an old version without the 3 dots, instead it says Titleist... not to sure about the model

im looking to overhaul this except the iron, as i've just recently aquired the nike VR Pro Combo Irons 3-PW, and the putter (lots of sentimental value attached to it)

i went to a golf store to look at some drivers and had a hit on one of their fitting machines, managed to get a reading of my clubhead spead which fluctuates from about 95-105MPH (105 was when i swung it hard) not sure what shafts i should be getting, what drivers i should be getting etc etc, i'm looking for information here so i don't have to buy it in australia as prices here are ridiculous.

Distances

Driver: 250-265 meters.. i don't know how far that is in yards i would think about 270-290

3 Wood: 225-240 meters

3 Iron: 210m

4 Iron: 196m

5 Iron: 182m

6 Iron: 170m

7 Iron: 158m

8 Iron: 145m

9 Iron: 130m

P Wedge: 116m

52* wedge: 100m

60* Wedge: no idea i never hit 60's full...

Putter: everything inside 2 feet haha

    • We had a member of our senior club who developed a mental block on pulling the trigger. I played with him to see what the membership was talking about. I timed him a few times when he would get over the ball. 45 seconds. He knew he had a mental block and would chide himself, “Just hit it!” Once on the green he was okay and chipping was a bit better. It was painful to watch him struggle. Our “bandaid” was to put him in the last tournament  tee time with two understanding players. We should have suggested to him to take a break from our tournaments. I agree with the idea that when a player realizes they have a problem, the answer is to go fix it and not return until they are able to play at an acceptable pace.
