Currently have 45* PW, 48* GW, 56* SW and 60* LW

I want to keep the Wilson Staff PW and GW so was thinking of dumping my other wedges ( they're old anyway ) and going 45*, 48*, 54* and 58*

Or should I go 45*, 48*, 52*, and 56* ( as my highest lofted club )

I currently use my 60* a lot especially on faster greens, so didn't really wanna go any lower than 58*

I could always get my Wilson Staff GW bent to 50* if that would be best

Someone else with Wilson irons posted a similar situation last week. Those irons sure are lofted strongly. Why don't you bend the GW to 50* (assuming you're comfortable with the change in bounce), and buy a 54*/56* (bend to 55*) and 60*? Then your lofts would be 45-50-55-60, even throughout.

I am currently playing a set of wedges with lofts similar to what you are thinking (48, 52 and 58).  I dropped by 56 and 60 and consolidated these shots with a 58 degree wedge.  I like the 58, and can play almost all of the shots I want without the extra wedge.

I'd suggest keeping the 48* G (really PW loft) and finding a set of 52/53 and 57/58 wedges with the bounce and shape that fits your eye.

Also... don't forget about the importance of having lies checked and adjusted with these clubs.

They are strong. Only from the 8i - GW though, the rest are pretty standard which is weird.

I like this idea. I just bought a Adams Golf Tom Watson 54* SW off rockbottom for $30 and will see how that goes.

    • We had a member of our senior club who developed a mental block on pulling the trigger. I played with him to see what the membership was talking about. I timed him a few times when he would get over the ball. 45 seconds. He knew he had a mental block and would chide himself, “Just hit it!” Once on the green he was okay and chipping was a bit better. It was painful to watch him struggle. Our “bandaid” was to put him in the last tournament  tee time with two understanding players. We should have suggested to him to take a break from our tournaments. I agree with the idea that when a player realizes they have a problem, the answer is to go fix it and not return until they are able to play at an acceptable pace.
