So I've decided to move on to the Titleist 910 series from the R9 Supertri and can not decide on the D2 or D3.  I will have an Aldila RIP 70 red eyes shaft in it and have a swing speed of around 110+.  I like the D2 for the 460cc size but am worried about too high of spin so my thoughts are either the D2 in 8.5 with it turned to draw which will make it closer to a 9 or the D3 in 9.5   Anyone have experience with the 910s that can shed some light on this?  Does anyone know if the D2 will spin less or more than the R9?  If so ill prob go that route cause with the shaft I use I'm only looking for slightly less spin from the club.

I would just test both out. With the hosel they've got you can switch out the same shaft if you find one you like and try the different heads with different settings.

The main difference is forgiveness the D2 will be alot better on miss hits than the D3. You need to hit them on the launch monitor to see what spin your getting also you can lower the spin with different shafts instead off loft.

I didn't find the D2 to be that much more forgiving than the D3.  However, I did find that the D3 was lower spinning for my swing and, overall, gave me more consistent results.  My distance was probably greater with the D2 (which makes sense given it has a 460cc head) but I still get enough distance with the D3 and I feel like I have more control over it.  I also found the D2 head to be simply gigantic and not pleasing to the eye.

    • We had a member of our senior club who developed a mental block on pulling the trigger. I played with him to see what the membership was talking about. I timed him a few times when he would get over the ball. 45 seconds. He knew he had a mental block and would chide himself, “Just hit it!” Once on the green he was okay and chipping was a bit better. It was painful to watch him struggle. Our “bandaid” was to put him in the last tournament  tee time with two understanding players. We should have suggested to him to take a break from our tournaments. I agree with the idea that when a player realizes they have a problem, the answer is to go fix it and not return until they are able to play at an acceptable pace.
