Tennessee Golf Outing

I am hopefully putting together a golf outing in Tennessee (equal distance for everyone to travel).  I would love it to be in the Nashville area, but other areas are considered. I am looking for "better than average" courses, but it must have lodging nearby (hopefully cabin type) to sleep 10-12 guys.  I am sure that someone here has been to a cool place like this and would love to share.

I am from the Middle Tennessee area. I have played most of the courses around this area. I am not sure what your price and level of difficulty you are looking for, or if you want to stay in an area that is close to other activities such as restaurants, shopping centers, Hotels/Motels, sports bars…etc.

Try:

Old Fort Golf Course- Murfreesboro, TN (20 miles east of Nashville). Very nice golf course! Lots of hotels, restaurants, bars and shopping centers in the area. Lots of things to do! I highly recommend this course! One of the best bangs for your buck! Plus there several other course in the area as well. 2 thumbs up! http://www.murfreesborotn.gov/golf.aspx

The Hermitage Golf Course- Old Hickory, TN (15 miles away from Nashville) Lots of restaurants in the area, I believe there are a few hotels as well. There are 2 18 hole courses here, 1 being the Generals Retreat and the other being Presidents Reserve. I haven’t played out there in many years, but the LPGA used to play the Sarah Lee. Now if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. I would highly recommend looking here http://www.tngolftrail.net/ . We have some beautiful state park golf courses. Fall Creek Falls, Montgomery Bell, and Henry Horton state parks are absolutely beautiful! Plus they all have cabin rentals. Keep in mind, these are not located near any major cities or town. But if its golf you want then its golf you will get!

The website also points you the Bear Trace (Jack Nicklaus designs), there are 3 courses, The Bear Trace @ Tim’s Ford Lake ( I have played here, very very nice!), The Bear Trace @ Cumberland Mtn, and The Bear Trace @ Harrison Bay. You can not go wrong doing any of these!

Thanks PhillyMac, I have been looking at the TN golf trail as well as the Fairfield Glade area.  While Nashville would be the idea locale, I think the lodging for poker and other highjinks might out weigh the goal of equal distance in travel.  Thanks again, and if anyone else has an opinion please chime in.

Been to FF Glade MANY, MANY times...really set up as a pure golf resort. They have a very polished operation, regarding tee times, starters, etc...as they need to with the volume of play they get. There are 5 courses on site, and range from good to very good. Very reasonably priced....they are all in the $40-$50 range. Bear Trace @ Cumb. Mtn is fairly close as well, and is worth the trip.

This is true mountain style golf (even though technically they are on a plateau). A lot of holes with big drops from tees down to fairways/greens. All the courses are cut through the deep woods. You won't generally see another hole (or much of anything) from the hole you are playing. The hitting areas are generous on most of the holes, but if you spray it, its a lost ball in the woods.

Not sure how much you are interested in playing, but let me know if you'd like any more info on course recommendations, details, lodging, etc....

It's really a great golf value. The only downside might be, depending upon your age and preferences, that there isn't much in the way of nightlife in the area. Its a retirement community, and there isn't a lot in the way of bars, etc... if you guys are into that.

Anyone played Ross Creek Landing Golf Course In Clifton TN?  The lodging on the course looks promising, but Clifton seems like a tiny tiny town.
