I currently use a taylormade R11 with the blur 60 stiff shaft. I am having problems getting the ball high in the air. My swing speed in around 109-116. Ball speed around 165. My average drive carries around 260-270. I have tinkered with all the setting of my R11 and nothing seems to help me get the ball in the air like i should. I know by having a lower ball flight I am losing distance, but I also have been very inaccurate as well. I got fitted yesterday for my new Titleist  ap2 irons and was killing them, very long and high. During my fitting i had the Titleist rep and golf pro watching me hit. I also had them watch me hit my driver and they concluded that i needed a shaft that was 72 grams, stiff flex and had a stiff tip. The shaft they suggested was a mitsubishi rayon/ Diamana, not sure of the exact model. The price from the Taylormade dealer was $300. I was wondering if anybody can help me out with my decision with the exact shaft i should get and is it worth spending 300 on a custom shaft. Keep in mind i do golf 3 times a week, and spending the money will not bother me if i can gain 15-20 yards and hit it straighter.

As long as they fit you for that shaft and you got to hit the shaft to your satisfaction on the launch monitor, I would say go for it.

I agree with Precis1on.  However, a few other shafts with very similar specs would be an Aldila RIP 7 ($199.99, probably the closest to the Diamana specs), an AXE Xcaliber 7 ($49.99, the next closest to the Diamana specs), and the YS7+ ($69.99, still very close).

Just food for thought.....

    • I  had to return to boast  just a  bit. Everyone  knows  i thought  this  is  how the Championship should  be decided. Match play is far  better than stroke  play to determine a  champion and  its  much closer to most sports  playoffs. Lose and you are  out.     Promotion, relegation and match play: PGA Tour unveils radical new structure The PGA Tour has revealed its planned changes to its competitive model, schedule and playoffs, changes that will be more substantial than any in the Tour's half-century-long history. How will the PGA Tour series wrap up its season? The current PGA Tour playoff format consists of three stroke-play events, concluding with the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta. Starting in 2028, the Tour's playoff system will feature match play, and will rotate through various courses. Further details will be revealed at this year's Tour Championship next month.
    • Posted a couple swings here. I think my attempt to blend the movement still results in a more “around” back swing?
    • I never heard dislike for them.  From my perspective, they are just like any other club. Though, they were always probably over-priced, until recently as other club manufacturers have been raising prices the past 5+ years. You had to wait for them to go on sale, which you can get them closer to other club manufacturers.  They sell good clubs. Nothing crazy..
    • Why do so many people dislike PXG clubs and constantly criticize them? All the folks at my club and especially online, I never hear good things about them except from people who bought them and defend them. They look fine to me but curious is there some sort of quality issue or is it just stereotyping the buyers.
    • I have the LM1 launch monitor and I’ve been very impressed. I agree with your assessment and it’s very accurate for me and ease of use is wonderful. The price point of $199 is very hard to beat with this form factor and performance. I was previously using a PRGR.
