Why is CBS playing a rerun of last year's Verizon when there is a good LPGA match live? Ochoa will take the #1 ranking from Annika if she hold on, the other teenage pro (Lincicome) is in contention and and Hot Natalie is imploding again. What great drama! But no, we get a year old 2nd tier field match, not even in HD.

Come to think of it, why and i even inside watching tv any way? Its 78 deg and not a cloud over the whole state. Time to go outside and play.

Actually, its on the golf channel. I was going to post something like this because it doesnt say the event is on, on my digital channel guide. It says product show case but its actually the Ginn open or whatever its called. I turned to the golf channel at 2 pm and low and behold it was on by chance. I was going to say whats the point of having coverage of the 1st 2 rounds on the golf channel and then not cover the rounds that matter (3 and 4). I assume CBS is covering the PGA tour and there arent 2 slots for coverage of both.

I think CBS was covering the Ginn Open before the Heritage but because play was delayed to start the day there too they went off air at 3PM (EST) to cover the Verizon Heritage even though the Ginn was still playing. It initially made sense because that was the slot the Heritage was in (and that's what I wanted to see I don't follow the LPGA at all (Cept for the fact I don't like Sorenstam and am sick of hearing about Michelle Wie) but the poster does have a valid point. If the heritage was delayed (and ultimately postponed that day) then just come on the air and let everyone know that and go back to the Ginn. No reason staying on the air for 3 friggin hours talking about the wind and showing pictures of flagpoles and trees being blown around. That's cool for 5 minutes... Actually I would have much rather them show MORE of last year's Verizon then sit there and talk about the weather the whole time.

Haha... yeah, what kind of trick Jim Furyk pulled to get back into contention after missing the cut

She's not a teenager; she's 21.

I'm getting to be an old man... anyone on the LPGA tour except Julie Inkster, Laura Davies or Nancy Lopez is a teenager to me!

Geeez, I remember when I was in High School and Nancy Lopez first came on tour.

MGP, I can't quite catch the hull number of your golf course/avatar. Is it the Forrestal?

Hmmmm not too sure about the hull number. When I came across that cool photoshopped pic I just knew I had to have it for my avatar though.

Looking at the bridge details, it appears to be a Nimitz class carrier though.

You know, you could just get a nice moderate length par 4 hole on the deck of a Forrestal or Nimitz class carrier, about 340 yds. Of course it would almost always play longer because of the wind and OB is almost certainly a "lost ball"...

It's definitely a post Enterprise class carrier, ie nuke powered. Most likley a Nimitz class. You can tell by the square superstructrure or "Island". It would be a 346 yd par 4, the fairway would only be about 75 yds wide at its peak.

The hardest part would be reading the green, heaving up and down in moderate seas...

MGP & satch_ip -- thanks for your input on the name/class of the carrier. I had (obviously) no idea in the world which one it was and "guessed" the Forrestal because it's the only carrier I've ever been aboard. I had gone aboard in Mayport on guvmint bidness a few (well, many) years ago with a Naval Aviator and got a tour of the ship, including a trip to the bridge. Compared to the bridge of a tin can, that's pretty impressive.

    • I don't think anyone will really care.   It's your call.  Just be consistent.
    • I agree, until we are watching the 18th hole in the dark or waiting for the champion to finish and it's been 5+ hours
    • Question for the group. The course I normally play at has 27 holes - 3 9s that they use to for 18 in the various combinations. Is it okay to declare* if I’m playing front or back when I play 9 on this course? I’m figuring I need to declare before I play a shot. *meaning just say to myself that this is the back 9. Curious what people think. Of course, my only holes left are 13 and 17, so I’m going to declare the back 9 for the rest of the year. Probably only one or two more rounds though.
    • This is my opinion as well. I would love to see the LPGA take the lead on this.    This.
    • I agree in general. The one way in which the viewer will notice the pace of play is just that "it's been an hour and Nelly Korda or Scottie Scheffler have only played four holes." Or if for some reason they show a lot of shots of players just standing around when they could be showing golf shots. But I think Andy Johnson said it most recently/best, playing fast is a skill, too. I would love for pro golfers to play faster. You'd see the players you want to see hit more shots in the same time than they do now. So I don't disagree with the pace of play stuff, and hope they can find ways to do it. Heck, the LPGA should leap at the chance to differentiate itself in this way, IMO. So: I stand by what I said in that the TV viewer really doesn't notice much about pace of play. It's rare when they do. I support increasing the pace of play wholeheartedly. But my top five reasons don't include TV ratings or viewership.
