The point I was making is that guys like Tiger have different constraints and requirements than we do.  Lets say Tiger can swing a driver 130mph but can only control up to 125 mph. Obviously a longer driver that swings faster is a bad idea. Lets say you  on the other hand can control a 110mph driver but can only swing 95 mph. A longer driver makes sense then. There is a reason why the average driver length on the LPGA is longer (45.5) than the PGA (44.5). Similiarly you can't compare today to 30 years ago. Jack might have used a 43" inch driver but it was also made out of steel. That shaft has nothing in common with todays graphite ones.

Will you hit shorter, higher lofted clubs more accurately? Sure but you have to figure out if the tradeoff in distance is worth it.  You could tee off with a 7 iron if all you cared about was accuracy.

    • Day 550, May 5, 2024 Got a good hour in with a typical (for me) two-stick setup: pool noodle angled in front, yardstick on the ground angled 45° behind me.
    • Day 130: Cinco de Mayo Day 7/24 of Full Speed Spectrum training. Difficult training day after struggling to certify my warmup yesterday, and today. Finished 13 mph lower than my training speed on Thursday. Hope to hit some balls today.
    • Yeah, I think I misread that part. I read "in front of" and kinda skipped the rest.
    • We just completed our winter league (Jan 1 - April 30)  Our scoring was simple.  We used the 18 birdies app.  You get 1 point for every member of the league you beat head to head in an 18 hole round (no handicap).  You also get a point for completing the round.  Therefore 4 members play a round- winner of the round gets 4 points, runner-up gets 3, third gets 2, and last gets 1.  Points accumulate throughout the season.  You can play as many times as you want. Our winner accumulated 110 points while second was 102 and third was 97.  We had a total of 16 members in the league.  No issues whatsoever.  All about fun.
