I became blind in my left eye and my putting stance has to be changed so I can see where the ball is going! Help me find a putter.

So I finally got back into golf 6 months ago and came to the realization that I would probably benefit from a different putting stance. I have been using an extremely old basic ping putter from right to left (standard way.) However, since I am blind in my left eye, I cannot see left to see how far and where the flag/hole is. I was thinking about putting from my right side, facing the hole. I would like some advice on this putting technique as well as any recommendation on a putter to suit. Thank you for your time!

Ps. This is the putting stance I was thinking about trying.

0:31 in that video he says "using your binocular vision" - Unfortunately you (and I for a different reason) don't have this so if it's a requirement to that specific technique I can't see it working unfortunately.

This may sound daft but what's the issue with standing over the ball with the target to your left as normal, turning your head left to judge the distance and then putting as normal? Ideally you keep your head down anyway in the putting stroke so I can't see the issue?

Well I'm still getting use to my eye injury. I have very little peripheral in my left eye that just bothers my eye sight, so i mostly just use my right eye. However, it is very difficult for me to gauge distance looking back and forth. Also, when I am looking at the ball, i don't have an exact location to putt to. I end up looking back and forth from the hole to the ball so many times my golf mates get frustrated. I think it would be easier to putt when i have a straight shot at the hole, when I can see the hole and the ball at the same time.

My putting isn't awful, I just want to see if there is an easier way for me to putt before I buy a new putter.

Here's what I do to overcome the lack of binocular vision (obviously YMMV):

  1. Stand behind the ball and face your target. Get a feeling for how the put looks, the pace you'll need etc and take a couple of practice swings to estimate pace.
  2. Look between the ball and the point you want to putt toward (your AimPoint) and find an anomaly in the ground directly along that line, whether it's a dark patch, a leaf, a blade of grass etc. Try to make sure it's around 1-2ft in front of your ball so that you won't have to excessively turn your head to know where you're aiming at address.
  3. Stand at address and line the putter up - Putter guide > ball > AimPoint.
  4. Putt the ball directly over the point you noted from earlier and you'll know it's on the correct line.

Pace comes with practice.
