Need some swing input from some of you guys. I seem to have a slice or a pull.

First 2 videos are Driver and the second 2 are 7 irons. I have kind of adopted a Stack and Tilt pattern this year and have greatly improved my ball striking but I still slice the ball quite a bit. Anyone see any flaw in my swing that I can work on. I am currently an 11.7 Handicap and would like to get that to single digits soon. Thanks for you input guys.

Good video shots. Im no expert or coach by any means, but you should try to stand up a little bit straighter. Your back is hunched over the ball which causes a little bit of a flatter swing. Try to keep on the same plane. It looks like the reason for your slice is on your downswing your swinging with your arms and not your shoulders. Try taking the club back very slow with just your shoulders. Also bend your knees a little bit more and bend from the hips. Good Luck!

I agree with KCGolfa. Try to bend you're knees a bit. Maybe stand a bit closer to the ball. So you don't have to bend that much. It might help you in you're balance and avoid the slide. Also it could prevent some back problems in the future.

You have  a nice easy velocity.

Hi slabm7, I just watched your video with the driver. Things you may want to look at is spine angle and at address let your arms hang freely - do not reach for the ball.  It looks like you are too far away from the ball to me.  And those are things you can fix just by addressing the ball better.

To go a step further... Your placement of the ball with your driver appears to be on the outside of your left foot (especially in the first shot).  This is very forward... I believe you could move that to the inside of your left foot and hit the ball off the sweet spot more.

When you hit your driver, do you hit it off the heel (or low off the club face)?

Maybe get some impact tape and play around with the placement of the ball and see where you are making impact.

Its just the angle of the video, there was an alignment grid on the matt and I made a point to make sure the ball was just inside my left foot. I am going to try standing close to the ball and stand more upright with my knees bent and see if that helps things. Thanks for your reply!

One thing i noticed at impact you may lift your right heel off the ground too quick. At impact it should barely be off the ground, me and my instructor have been working on the same thing.

try what i did. stand closer to the ball it may force you to come in from the inside to the ball. remember to hold that right hand angle through the impact zone. also standing closer will help you not fall over every time.

it may not work but hey it just might, why not give it a shot and let me know your results

I tried standng closer to the ball and more upright but still seem to have a terrible out to in swing. I just finished playing 5 rounds this week and my slice and ball striking was the worst it has been all year. My Driver slices are 50 yard slices. With my irons my divots are pointing left of the target while the ball goes right of the target. Does anyone have any ideas of anything I can try to help fix this. Its driving me crazy!!

Actively try to make your divots go right of target...try to hit to right field.

    • OMG Jerry Barber shot -20 back in 1960! Let's go back and time and bitch about how easy it is to play golf. My goodness, Calvin Pete shot a -21 in 1986! Wait a second, David Duval shot -26 back in 1999! Hold up, Ernie Els shot a -31 back in 2003!!!!  (all scores at The Sentry, it is a very easy golf course for PGA Tour players).  The concept that golf in the past is this protecting par or what not is just romanticized BS. Golfer's have been tearing apart golf courses for decades. Let's have a sense of perspective to base our opinions, ok?
    • I wont  comment further except to say maybe we  can get a  -40 winner soon on these tests  of golf  skill     Hideki Matsuyama runs away with The Sentry, breaks scoring record to open new PGA Tour season Hideki Matsuyama picked up his 11th PGA career win on Sunday afternoon in Hawaii.
    • Day 4 - Had aspirations for range work but a family activity went a lot longer than expected. So 6 minutes of mirror work, feeling good about weight shift back and transition forward.
    • Simply put, no, you get relief from the cart path, but there's no guarantee of a reasonable swing, no relief from tall grass or trees or anything else.  To answer a later question, if a stance to that left side of the path, and a left handed swing, means the ball is OB, or in another area of the course like a Bunker or Penalty Area, that's not the Nearest Point of Complete Relief.
    • Day 6 1/5/25 Putting through 50 mm gates. Last night I only hit two gates, and tonight it was just one. Perhaps tomorrow will be my first perfect session from 11” on this size gate.
