I recently bought a used Scotty Cameron California Series Del Mar (35", LH) from a local dealer who has a very good reputation and I've known for years.  The price was reasonable and I plan on playing with the putter - I'm no collector, but the shaft band has me confused.  I can't find any explanation so far as to what it's meant to be or why it is on there.  Check out the pic, but as you can see it says it is "Custom Built" but has no measurements, etc marked in.  I was hoping someone could tell me a little about where this putter, or at least the band, would have come from?  I'm pretty confident it's not a fake - it passes all the "tests" and was bought from a reliable source.  Any help would be appreciated!

if i remember correctly its just written with a pen and wears off.. my monterey was the same way but i received it new with the writing and after awhile it rubbed off

I'm no Scotty expert, but with that band I believe it indicates that the putter has been through the custom shop.  And like the previous post the specifics are hand wirtten and come off.  You would probaby need to visit your local club builder and ask them to give you the specifics, it's a simple process for them.

Yeah, wanna make 14 dollars the hard way?

    • No Relief When Clearly Unreasonable to Play Ball. There is no relief under Rule 16.1: When playing the ball as it lies would be clearly unreasonable because of something from which the player is not allowed to take free relief (such as when a player is unable to make a stroke because of where the ball lies in a bush), or  When interference exists only because a player chooses a club, type of stance or swing or direction of play that is clearly unreasonable under the circumstances. Either/both of the above would seem to apply
    • Day 351 - Went to a new golf sim in the area, pretty cool place. Not sure why, but it seems I always have more of a draw/hook on sims than on the course. I still played well, but just odd.

    • Day 25: 1/4/2025 Mirror day. I did some good mirror work with a 7 iron. Once again focus here is on pushing the carpet away with my lead leg. Sort of like I'm sitting in a office chair and want to scoot across the room.  Later, I used the putting mirror on the putting mat. Rolling 8 footers down a straight line on the mat.
