Hi, I'm relatively new here. I have just not started to get really into golf after a couple years of playing every so often. For the longest time I never used one ball consistently. I have since read and heard that this can often hurt the speed in which I improve my game.So I was wondering if any of you could recommend a ball.

Things to keep in mind: I'm in college and poor, I have a very fast swing speed (drives average around 260-290, usually only deal with a slight slice), but I find a good of my trouble around the green within 25 yards. Haha, that may not be enough information, but any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Top-Flite Gamer v2 is a great ball for the money.

It's a mid-level ball that I have enjoyed.

It also will reduce your side-spin off the driver especially and help keep you in the short grass.

Walmart, bags of "educated" balls come in 40 and 60 size bags for up to $20.  That's how I keep my wife and kids all stocked up.  They can usually get a whole summer out of one bag.  They even sell educated ProV1 12 packs for $20.

The Callaway Diablo HX series are also a half decent low-spin ball for around $24.

Noodle or Precept Laddie X are my favorite cheap balls. Noodle is my fav of the two.

Soft, long, and feel great off the putter as well.

Check on Golfsmith and The Golf Warehouse for good deals. 36 balls for $29, 24 balls for $19.99, etc..

    • It’s possible the graphite shaft has a small internal crack or a delamination. Tapping it and hearing a vibrating sound is usually a sign the shaft isn’t behaving as it should. Since the store wasn’t helpful, consider taking it to a club fitter or a pro shop that can check the shaft flex and integrity. If it’s defective, you might be able to get a replacement from the manufacturer.
    • It’s interesting how much a 3D system changes your understanding. Observing top players in full detail and realizing the trail knee shouldn’t fully extend is a great example of why being open to new info is so important. I like your approach: not trying to be “right,” but trying to teach correctly based on actual evidence. Makes sense why golfers would benefit from this perspective.
    • I would say both are equally not the best for golf. Is it better than nothing, sure.  Golf is an athletic motion. Professional golfers are doing a comprehensive workout routine focusing on strength, power, flexibility, stability. They might include some yoga into the routine. I would put both of them in the recovery bin, not golf enhancement bin.  If you want to increase swing speed, core strength, longevity in golf and life, then lift heavy weights.
