Drivers....open faced ones

Hey all,

I'm looking to buy a new driver. The catch is I like my driver to have a slightly open face. My current driver is 2 degrees open and it's the titleist 905T I had specially made (it was an ultra pain and took 3 months because they messed up making it twice). I just wanted to know if anyone knows of any models that have open faces...and are more for working the ball. I can't stand these square heads and elongated faces that give you infinite MOI or whatever. I tried that new XL Hibore that i heard is 3 degrees open and it's nice...but i can't get used to it's look. I rather have a classic look to it...my next step is checking out some of them X Speed Pro D/S drivers by cobra. Other than that I don't know. I guess I will look at the new Titleist heads. Any suggestions/comments will be greatly appreciated!

I believe all taylormade TP drivers are open faced. I'm pretty sure the 907d2 is atleast square if not a degree or two open. I think the cobra speed pro drivers are open a degree or two as well.

That's correct all the TP versions have open faces, which is why I love my current driver (R5 Dual TP), for the record I switched from a Titleist 983E. My normal ball flight is a high draw, and my mis-hit an over draw, and the closed faces of the new draw biased drivers only compounded the problem. Plus TaylorMades offer the more conventional look you seem to be after. One thing to be careful of is the weights in the TM's, the R5 I got had draw bias weights in it from the factory, I switched it to neutral with the 2 extra weights it came with and haven't looked back.

Most of the drivers that are "tour" are the open/nuetral face versions.
Some make you pay for it like TaylorMade and some do not like Callaway and I believe Ping gives you an open face option as well.

Callaway's FT-5 Tour and FT-i Tour are .5 degree open.

To be fair, the TM TP drivers also have much better stock shafts and more weights. You're not paying for JUST the open or square face/neutral weighting.

the tour issue exotixs i think its called proto or tour, thats 2 open and it kills the ball. comes stock w/ aldila vs proto too

Well, Callaway and Ping offer the premium shafts at no extra cost for the "Tour" model. I love Taylormade but its just their way to get a few hundred extra out of a player.

They don't offer that shaft, no. They offer a few stock shafts, some of which are slightly more costly than others. Let's not get into semantics here.
