I'm trying some new swing techniques to try and hit down more on the ball and swing from the inside better.  I've noticed that shifting my weight forward at address and through the back swing all the way to contact, it helps to swing from the inside and strike down more on the ball.

Has anyone else experienced this?  Any advise is appreciated.

Well, you do need to shift your weight forward on the downswing.  I struggled with this and to be sure I do accomplish moving most of my weight forward, I tend to place more weight on my left leg at address.  My instructor agrees with it since it helps me shift weight, and it becomes more natural the more you do it.  In other words, eventually you will not have to think about shifting your weight--it will happen automatically.
