I figured I was going to start a golf journal to help myself know what to work on, and of course to talk about my Favorite game ever.

6/13/2012: Today was a very bad golf day for me playing way above my handicap. I woke up sore and knew I shouldn't play but I ignored myself *never a good idea* and played windsor golf course in Windsor California.
********************* After today i'm going to start posting my score cards instead of doing a hole by hole summary*********************

Hole 1: Fairway, flew green from 130 with knock down pitching wedge, hit chip short and 2 putted. Bogey

Hole 2: Woods deep right, hit a knock down out and had 75 to the green and this time hit my wedge short and 2 putted again. Bogey

Hole 3: Fairway, flew green from 65 with lob wedge, having a lot of trouble getting my legs into the swing and controlling my distance. Hit another bad chip and 2 putted. Bogey

Hole 4: Hit a skull of about 100 yards off the tee, hit a 4 wood to 150 yards and put a 9 iron short into the bunker. Hit one of my best bunker shots of the year lipping out leaving a tap in Par.

Hole 5: Hazard, Came out of swing badly with terrible timing hitting a high cut. Dropped in chip area and hit it to about 20 feet and 2 putted for another Bogey :(

Hole 6: Duck hook to 15th fairway, 6 iron short of green from not knowing distance. Short chip into crest of slope to leave a 20 footer and another 2 putter.

Hole 7: 4 iron just short of green, hit a nice bump and run pitching wedge to about 3 feet and made the Par putt.

Hole 8: Duck hook left of fairway, 8 iron out of rough, flew flag by 25 feet. Again bad distance control 2 putted for Par.

Hole 9: Duck hook to rough left of fairway. Recovery 9 iron to 125 yards, knockdown GW to 25 feet for 2 putt and Par.

Round Finish: 42 Terrible round when i'm playing to a 3 handicap but you gotta take the good with the bad.

Thoughts on the round: I had terrible timing all round with virtually no legs in any swings. Take it easy with just a bucket tomorrow and playing 18 on Friday.

Sample of what i'm thinking of posting every day whether i'm going to the range, playing a round, or taking the day off. If you'd be interested in the idea let me know and i'll keep it going, if everyone says shut up no one likes you I guess I won't :)

Hit a 160 balls at the range today and spent 30 minutes on the chipping range then 20 minutes on putting. My putting stroke has really been coming into its own and I feel very confident on the green. worked on my flop shot with it getting so dry I feel like I really need on the course when I short side myself and was mediocre at best, practice, practice, and more practice to improve my flop. Felt mediocre again on the range after shooting 42 on 9 the other day I feel a little off. Playing 18 tomorrow at foxtail golf course www.playfoxtail.com will post scorecard and hole by hole summary tomorrow.

"I was hung over and still shot 50 less than you!"

Shit, I gota get better in a hurry!

cool cool good to hear :)

wouldda put this in my first post but can't edit that far back. Here's my swing, little inside to out with a chick wing but the swing works for me.

You really fire through the ball well................

You are a little loose at the top during transition, but look great through impact.  Niiice.......I know most of the posters in this forum would love to be able to make a pass through the ball like that....well done.   Nice rip.....and nice finish.

Thank you Buckeye, i'm really working on bringing in back straight so I don't chicken wing and Get Solid.

Shot a 78 today with 4! 3 putts. Very bad putting day for me I'm usually money with my putter. Will post scorecard and hole by hole later today. Take away my 3 putts and bad chips today I wouldda been at par. Shouldda wouldda tho 78.

page0001.jpg

LUL SIDEWAYS I FAILLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hole 1: pule off tee, pull 4 wood, chip onto green 2 put for par.

Hole 2: Great 4 wood fairway to about 25 feet and I 3 PUTTTTTT NOOOOOOOOOO. Really struggled with speed all day these greens were us open fast.

Hole 3. Missed green short by about 3 feet, pitched to 6 inches with 9 iron bump and run for easy par.

Hole 4. Thin pull off tee, 4 wood left of green with gap wedge bump and run to 3 feet. Made putt for par back to even

Hole 5. Hit a great 4 iron just short of the fairway to cut the gap. From an uphill lie from 165 hit 7 iron to 20 feet and barely missed birdie to leave tap in par.

Hole 6. Completely wussed out on pitching wedge and left it 15 yards short of green. Played a bump and run to 15 feet and hit a great putt to save par.

Hole 7. Missed fairway badly to right leaving hands widely open. Hit a bump and run to 45 feet and 3 putted. Hole was on a side hole, against usga and pga regulations. Not an excuse I hit a bad lag putt, 3 putt for bogey.

Hole 8. Hit a 3 iron off tee and double crossed for a duck hook, hit a 8 iron long onto the green and again another side hill putt with a great lag putt that kept bleeding to 5 feet and missed the putt.

Hole 9. Pull of the tee, OH WHAT A SURPRISE, tired to hit a flop and chunked it into bunker, blasted long right and 2 putted for bogey.
Incredibly disapointed with even through 6 and going bogey bogey bogey

Hole 10. Pull hook off tee then 8 iron onto green with a very good 2 putt after hitting it 7 feet past the hole.

Hole 11. My drive of the day, 311 off the tee to leave a lob wedge which I left short for a 20 footer. Lipped out for birdie great 2 putt.

Hole 12. Great drive off the tee, laid up with a pull hook but hit a GW to 25 feet and missed the putt.

Hole 13. Was in between clubs and ended up just barely long left. Bump and run to 3 feet made the putt.

Hole 14. Great 3 iron off tee and found out i was in a deep divot. Tried to get down on it with a GW and chunked it to 20 yards short and left of green. Tried to bump and run 7 iron and hit worst shot of the day chunk and right. 2 putted for bogey.

Hole 15. 9 Iron knock down left it left of green barely. Got lucky with a putt that hit pin and dropped and should've been a 20 foot par putt.

Hole 16. Dead down the fairway 225 to pin. Hit a 3 iron and pulled it. Tried to get cute with a PW bump and run and paid the price leaving it short. Putted long and 2 putted off fringe.

Hole 17. Dead push cut into other fairway. Left a 9 iron short of green from a chunk and hit my best chip of day barely clearing bunker for a hero chip and leaving a 10 foot putt. Hit it badly, story of the day for a bogey.

Hole 18. Hit a great 3 wood off the tee to leave me 140 to the pin. Hit an easy 9 to 25 feet left of the pin. hit a horrible putt to 15 feet past with a great line that almost went in. 3 putted for a bogey.

Incredibly stupid to be even through 6 on both 9's and shoot a 39 on both. Need to work on my putting speed badly and dipping my right shoulder leading to chunks.

Struggled off the tee ALL DAY. Bad driving working on pulling it back straight and its been a struggle.

There are sites online where you can keep detailed hole-by-hole stats.........I recommend that.  I keep detailed stats and it's rather eye opening.

As for a Journal?  I get a golf themed calendar every year and have logged every single round I've played since Jan1, 1993.   I make brief notes in the date square, so it's basic info.....where I played, basic weather conditions, who I played with if worth noting, what I shot for each 9 and the total, and number of birdies or eagles.  It's amazing how something simple like this will jog memories of rounds from years before that you might otherwise have forgotten.

I keep just a word document list of every round. I usually keep track of score, fairways, putts, and GIR's.

Today not doing anything golf related, taking the day off and relaxing, playing some beer pong with friends and maybe watching tiger whoop some butt at the US Open.

Last round I played I really focused on bringing the club more straight to not have as many loose transitions at the time. Going  to the range tomorrow going to take my camera and record front and side view. Probably going to hit 2 large buckets and work on the short game.

trying this out for my round friday.

50% GIR is good round for a 3-4hc...............

I'd be focusing on putting if I was you!!  you turned a 73-74 into a 78 no thanks to a bulky putter.
