OK, I just ordered a new set of clubs for myself, Taylormade's & Callaway's. Now my old set is being inherited by my 13yr old daughter. She is just learning to play. I have told her that if she sticks with the game, I will get her fitted and have a set made for her. Now with her being 13 and still growing (she's already 5'9") I don't want to spend big name prices on a set of clubs for her, only to have to replace them in a year or 2 because she grew so much.

So were is a place online that I can get a decent set of clubs made for her? Don't really care about brands, I'll get her a nice brand name set down the road. Just want to make sure it's a decent set, with good shafts.

A lot of the clone websites allow you to pick all components for the clubs from shaft and grips. Those would be a starting point. But at 13 and 5'9" she could play a regular length shaft with a slight choke down if non at all. You could go the used route so if she does end up being 6'4" and needs longer clubs you didn't blow a large amount of money. I paid $150 for my set of irons from the local shop that came out in 2008 for $1100.

You might find a local custom shop for this, rather than going online. Talk to local golfers and find out who could do this for you.

Several years ago, I got a "cold call" from an online golf club vendor offering to fit me over the phone for a custom set. I listened to the offer. They used how far I hit a 7-iron to determine flex, and my fingertip-to-ground length to determine shaft length, and my HDCP to determine whether I needed player's or GI iron heads. Nothing about grip size, etc. A very haphazard approach to custom fitting. I said no thanks.

Successful small shops offer a variety of both cutrate and durable head components, plus a variety of shafts. And, a knowledgeable clubsmith can tweak the shafts, grips, and lie angle - combined with test-hitting - to get your daughter what she needs.

Since your daughter is 5-foot-9, you might find a good set of used irons that will fit her. Again, an in-person clubsmith could help tweak for fit.

I am planning to take her to GolfSmith to get fitted for the clubs, that's what I did when I bought mine, although I also bought my clubs there to. That's why the guy said he would fit her during the week for free. I spent a good $1,300 there last weekend. Don't know of any small shops in my area that build clubs. Did a Google search and didn't find any. I'm sure they are there, but I don't know were.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
