So I have saved 400 dollars for golf. I am on the edge of breaking into the eighties, but I am having a conflict of hitting a draw and then fade the next. Sometimes it goes crazy and it will hook or slice, but lately I have made it managable. I was originally going to get lessons, but as I said, I made my unpredicable swing managable.

Now I am wondering would it be better to get my clubs refitted. These clubs used to be my dad's, who gave them to me last summer. I have always wondered how well I would shoot if all my clubs were fitted to me. My dad is six foot two and I am five foot ten and he swings at about 90 mph and I swing at about 100-105.

But the final thing that I wondered is getting the R11s, which I could set to fit what swing I want. I have a G20 which has been my best friend and my worst enemy. Most of my clubs are taylormade, including my hybrid which I have occasionally used as my alternitive driver (I smack it 200 yards with a draw which is better than 260 yards on the other fairway).

So my question is should I go for the lessons to fix my swing (with limited cash for only a few lessons), a refitting for my entire bag to optimize my game, or a new driver to hopefully fix my most unpredicable part of my game.

Thanks in advance, Kingzilla

I'd get a club fitting.  Then take what's left of your $400 and buy a set of irons off Callaway Pre-Owned using the specs the fitter gave you.  You could get a nice set of irons in like new or very good condition for that.  They list the lie angles, lengths +/-, set makeups, and shaft flexes on there.

Driver:  Callaway Diablo Octane 9.5*

Putter:  Callaway ITrax, Scotty Cameron Studio Design 2, Ping Anser 4

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
