I'm new here but I wouldn't sweat that 93 at all since some one else mentioned your handicap is calculated over 20 rounds and the highest 10 are thrown out and the 10 best are then averaged. Your handicap is based on your potential meaning only 25% of the time will you actually play to it and even less if your able to beat it. I stressed out also when I started posting and just dreaded when I was posting scores that were bad for me on avarage but during one two week stretch I had four rounds in the 70's and had the same feeling about posting those. I guess you could just post the better 9 you shoot but ESC will keep that under control, just a guess but I would say once you establish your index you wont be able to post higher than a 7 or 8 on any one hole so you see ESC will keep scores from getting out of control. One thing to be aware is wherever you play make sure to calculate your index versus the courses slope or tees your playing from so you know the ESC your suppossed to use. Bottom line just post the true scores because once you get your number it usually comes down right after because of ESC.

Yeah, drop my second. Then hit my third.

2013 Goal:

Single digit handicap

the easiest way for me to remember O.B. scoring is... 1 into O.B. 2 out of O.B. 3 my next tee shot.

yea all this is still over my head lol. sadly there isnt any golf leagues around here at public courses i play at that i know of. only tournaments i play in is scrambles so no handicap needed. i would like to start taking it more serious and know for sure what im capable of. something im gonna have to look more into. im playing golf at least one a week so i guess after 20 rounds it would be pretty interesting to see what im averaging.

Yeah it was a bit confusing to me also, the part I didn't understand at first was "course handicap" because the course I play at says I'm a 10 but my index says 7.6 but then I realized the slope at my home course is 142 so that was why they give me more strokes versus a course with a 120 slope wich I would probably have to play to my 7.6. The nice thing is they adjust it for how hard the course is and because of that I would strongly suggest playing a difficult course to establish at because if I used the "soupy" course I used to play at I would probably be a 4 and of course screwed when I happen to play any tournaments.

Remember this isn't what you average this is what your potential is because half of those 20 rounds never get counted.

    • Thanks but honestly… I don't know any other way. I don't mind being wrong so long as I know where to go from there. I don't like being wrong — I'd love to get things right (which is different than "being right"). I recommend grabbing a furniture slider or a paper plate or something, and doing something like this: First, make a swing where you let your trail foot swing out as you turn, then twist that foot back in. From DL and FO, it'll look like this: Then, during a regular backswing, try to twist your foot in slightly (demonstrated in the left image): You'll notice a crease along the trail side of your hip, your pelvis will "fold" into that thigh (internal rotation of the hip joint), and your "bits" will be squished a little between your pelvis and your thigh. Ben Hogan said once: "At the top of the back swing the groin muscle on the inside of your rt [sic] leg near your right nut will tighten," Hogan wrote. "This subtle feeling of tightness there tells you that you have made the correct move back from the ball." I don't know about that, but you will probably feel something down around that area.
    • Yep. I think it will start to feel even more athletic when we start on the downswing stuff later.  I know, it's just I want to be younger so I have more time to enjoy the changes. 🙂
    • I need to drop a couple of stone. 🙂 😛    Yep. Yeah, but in the end, it feels more athletic, like you're actually using your legs, yeah? As you know… we use the best available info we have. Like others, I was fooled a little by 2D images for awhile (moving or still). Unlike others, I've learned and grown and moved on since then, while they're still looking at their images (often from lousy camera angles).
