So my swing tempo for my irons are pretty much on point.

But the driver, ... I have the same tempo on the back swing, however I have a very fast transition from the top for speed.

I was told that the tempo on the down swing has to be the same as the back swing?

So I'm thinking... I like my backswing tempo, but if I have the same tempo on the downswing, specially

I'm playing a Diamana Whiteboard shaft... wouldn't that totally kill my swing speed?

I'm a bit confused about the relations of tempo and power / Swing speed.

Obviously the speed of the downswing is going to be considerably faster than the speed of the backswing. I can't remember where I read it, and I certainly can't say it's true, but: - Someone conducted a study of pro golfers and came to the conclusion, using video, that the 'perfect' ratio of DS-BS was (I think) 3:1. Using frames of video, an example would be that if a golfer took 12 frames to complete their backswing, they would - once their downswing began - make contact with the ball in 4 frames. The article went further to say that there were virtually no exceptions. Using Tiger as an example, the article gave examples of when Tiger was driving it poorly and how this ratio was off by a frame or two. Before someone jumps in and flames me, the above is how my memory serves me. I'm not holding the ratio to be true, as it was the author's study, not mine. The 12/4 may have been much different. I just picked a 3:1 as an example.

I actually read that too, called tour transitioning.

I was watching my i7 swing the other day and it was so smooth and it looks slow, but in reality, I was swinging really hard

and hit the ball 190yds+

So to me it doesn't make sense that on video my swing with i7 can look that smooth and slow, yet I was swinging very fast.

With the driver.... it wasn't smooth at all, the transition was very violent and totally different than my iron swing.

So yes, I'm lost
