Has anyone played in New Mexico? I am going there in a couple of weeks for a week of golf. Playing Las Campanas, Paako Ridge, Black Mesa, Pinon Hills, University of NM Championship course, Coyote Del Malpais, and Twin Warriors.

Any other recomendations?

What part of New Mexico are those courses in?

I will be there for 2 months and am looking for courses around the Angel Fire area.

What part of New Mexico are those courses in?

They are all around Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Farmington. Basically the northwest corner of New Mexico.

Black Mesa, Pinon Hills, and UNM are the creme de la creme.

Arroyo del Oso (Bear Canyon) is a popular and respected muni in NE ABQ. In fact, a Pinnacle Exceptional Driver contest prelim will be at the Arroyo del Oso range on June 4. (Could be a reason to go or to avoid the course at that time.) Sidenote: Last year's Pinnacle long drive contest was held nearby at a practice facility in NE ABQ near I-25; a freak tailwind carried challengers' drives about 400 yards, and 2 or 3 lucky contestants won $5k each! Of course, they probably slept in the parking lot the nite before. If you head from ABQ to southern NM, then you might consider the NM Tech course in Socorro (they have a yearly "Elfigo Baca Shootout" in Socorro, where they hit balls right off the mountain West of town), Inn of the Mountain Gods at Ruidoso (6500 feet alt.), the 9-hole at the Lodge in Cloudcroft (8000 feet alt.--highest in the U.S.??), and Sonoma Ranch in Las Cruces, an innovative, water conserving, desert course, of the kind you will otherwise find in Tucson or Phoenix, nested under the jagged pinnacles of the Organ Mountains to the East of Las Cruces. If you get that far south, you may as well try El Paso -- and Juarez, just across the border. I hear Juarez has at least one excellent course and inexpensive caddies. (Remember real live caddies?) How 'bout somebody starting a thread on Mexican golf? What the heck, take a whole month or two off and see some of Arizona and Texas as well!

Hi Atlanta! I live in NM. Are you going to play Las Campanas? That's a private course so you must know someone! It's great though, as is UNM, Pinion Hills, Paako, Black Mesa. I'd pass on Malpais, last I heard it was in poor shape. Check out Isleta Pueblo GC, very long. The NM State course in Las Cruces is harder than it looks and is great to play.

Yes I know someone - my pro knows a lot of other pros from playing in the CPC. Reciprocal clubs are great. Leaving on Tuesday!

    • My wife is going to drag me to see Wicked.   She is very excited to see it.   We saw the musical while in Chicago and thought it was very good.  I'm not usually a fan of musicals but I'm looking forward to seeing this.   Gladiator 2 does look good.   I'm going to go back and watch the original Gladiator before going to the theater.
    • MSN Glover expressed his dissatisfaction with what he termed as 'cool kid meetings' between Jordan Spieth, Patrick Cantlay, Tiger Woods and other high-profile golfers. "I think it's terrible," he stated. "And then hiding behind pace of play, I think, challenges our intelligence. They think we're stupid.     "Don't cut fields because it's a pace of play issue. Tell us to play faster, or just say you're trying to appease six guys and make them happy so they don't go somewhere else and play golf." Fitzpatrick joined the conversation on X (formerly Twitter), with the 30-year-old echoing Glover's sentiments regarding the PGA Tour changes. "He's so right," Fitzpatrick posted. "Pathetic that pace of play is spoken about every year and nothing ever gets done."     I agree. Instead of  penalizing  players for  turtle  play they appease the  slow jerks  by  cutting the  fields. They will play even slower  knowing they will NEVER be  penalized.
    • I've been Playing Golf for: 3 years  My current handicap index or average score is: 1.5 My typical ball flight is: neutral /slight draw The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: hook   Looking for some advice please folks. Started golfing three years ago and got hooked. Had some early lessons and was a slicer etc.  I used to have a severe inside takeaway and through working hard to fix as ever (this game…) it’s now gone too far the other way where I take it back way outside.  i think it looks really bad and have gotten a lesson last year where we tried to competely reset the swing and it ruined things for months as I couldn’t get it to stick (my fault).    anyway do I need to fix this? I hit it reasonably solid but don’t know what else I’m looking at or need to clean up. All opinions welcomed!  Videos:
    • A local film critic gave the movie “Wicked” a great review. I saw the stage musical several years ago (pre-COVID) and enjoyed it. Likely won’t see the cinematic version but one never knows. I probably will go to “Gladiator 2” at some point unless the reviews are terrible.
