Hey, everybody. Mike checking in from Winterville, Georgia...just outside of Athens. After following the PGA religiously for 20-plus years (I'm 43) and honing my skills on every golf video/computer game ever made, I'm finally taking the game up and kicking myself for not doing so a long time ago. I'm lucky enough to live about five minutes from the Athens Driving Range and have several inexpensive places to play within easy driving distance. I also went back to school four years ago at UGA...where I had the privilege of becoming friends with former UGA golf star and current American Junior Golf Association Tournament Director Ryan Hybl.

My Sticks: Cougar X-Cat, complete set off e-Bay for a hundred bucks.
Handicap: I suck.
Current Fave Player(s): Tiger, Ernie, Darren Clarke, David Toms.
All-Time Fave Player: Jack. No question about it.
Fave Major: The Masters.
Fave Non-Major: Accenture Match Play Championship.
All-Time Moment: Jack torches the back nine at Augusta in 1986. Again, a no-brainer.

In my lurking on several golf sites, I found The Sand Trap to have the best forum atmosphere in terms of newbie-friendliness and non-elitism. So, I look forward to hanging out and getting the lay of the land...

It seems you are pretty knowledgeable about the game of golf, and I'm glad you started playing instead of just watching. It had to be tough to do all the watching and playing games and not actually play.
