Hello SandTrappers! I've been reading these forums for a while and I am finally posting looking for some advice. I have been left with a (rather sizeable) sum of money to go out and purchase a set if clubs. I want to stay away from SGI irons and things of that nature. I've been playing off and on during the summers for about 3 years now and have a vauge idea of what I'm looking for. However, I'm not nearly as knowledgeable as y'all about these things and I'd really appreciate your advice/suggestions Thanks in advance for your help IRONS: titleist ap1 5-pw HYBRIDS: Cleveland mashie 3,4 WEDGES: titleist vokey (loft?) What kind of scores do you typically shoot?

Regardless of the answer to that though, if you have a sizable chunk of money to spend on clubs, find a good fitter and go that route.  I guarantee you won't regret it (I had a so-so at best fitting since it was all I have available here, and it has been incredibly helpful).

What you might do is combine lessons and a fitting. The pro can try to stabilize your swing as you try out different clubs.

I did this, and ended up getting new FWs and hybrids after lesson #2. Also, I learned a couple of adjustments on hitting my irons, and it turned out I could hit them pretty well as is.

Get some launch monitor data, and also pay attention to different head-shaft combinations for the clubs. The proper shaft makes a big difference in being able to hit the ball consistently.
