It is fairly rare where I think someone has gone out of their way to create tough hole locations. Maybe 2-3 really tough ones is not unreasonable. As others have said, everyone has to play the same course so just I try to play a smart shot and deal with what I find. If a course always sets up the positions so as to create an overly tough test, play elsewhere.
During a Masters contest I was lucky enough to win first place, The prize was a driver head that had been enhanced on the top of the head with a picture of the American flag. The head was made for the one our Presidents that had rejected (he was given three to chose from) I use it for a paper weight. Thought about shafting it up and playing with it, but decided it was nicer to use it as a paper weight.
We had very wet greens this weekend. One of the guys in our foursome marked his ball with a plastic marker. He came over and chatted with me while a couple other guys chipped on. I knew I was away so walked away to try my putt. it missed but I tapped in. That's when this guy said he couldn't find his marker. As near as we can figure when he tapped it down it stuck to the bottom of his putter, and fell off somewhere around the green. We came to a mutual agreement where we thought he was and let him play out.
Any issues with that?
I'm retired so I check in more than a few times each day. Even the days I play golf I still pop in often. I visit a few different forums and the one I spent my most time on closed down this past month. So I am spending more time here and a few others as well.
