I can strike the ball relatively well but one thing I do think about at address is "adjust" the sole of my irons to be as flush with the ground as possible.

I am a little smaller than the average player (I think, 5'6") and the shafts are standard but at my preferred address position and wrist angles the sole of the club is not flat and I do sometimes cock my wrists outwards to flatten the sole, I dont need to do it by much.

Understand that this position will likely have to be maintained all the way to swing completion though.

Any suggestions? Custom fitting is the easy option of course.

It really is a must to have the lie fitted to you. You don't want to have to manipulate your hands at all at address!
