I usually play Pro V1 or TM Tour Black but after reading the Top Flite hype I caved and popped for 15 Top Flite "feel" balls. Distance off the driver and other clubs was fine but on little "flip" sandwedges and lower "hop 'n stop" shots the ball was a big let down. I did like putting with them however but I was not impressed with their spin performance around the greens. I prefer the Taylor Made Tour Black over the Pro V1 but hate the way they scuff-up so quickly. Dayll (Always doing my best to prove P.T. Barum's dictum.)

I guess we'll just have to agree to a difference of opinion on this one.

I have found the D2 Feels to have the best spin on pitches and chips of any non-urethane cover ball I've tested this year (about 12 different balls so far). They do have slighly less spin than a ProV1 or TP Black but then you don't totally shred the cover when you hit a wedge either.

I play this ball as my everyday ball now and have no trouble checking them up around the green. For me they are an ideal comprimise between distance, spin, price and durability. I like 'em.

MGP: Thank you for the input. I'll defer to your opinion of the TF Feel ball and play another round with them tomorrow. My favorite short game shots are high lobs or semi-lobs all the way to the pin that just plop down like spent fish. Specifically, that was where the Top Flite Feel ball (for me) just did not match up to the ProV1. thanks again - dayll

    • I tried hybrids way back when TaylorMade introduced the copper orange Firesole Rescue, the clubhead having been made of titanium which was still relatively new even in drivers back then. I couldn't hit it well at all, and while the success of hybrids suggests that the modern ones must be quite good,  I'm perfectly happy with the 5, 7, and 9-woods.  Early ones of mine were Top Flite Intimidator 400s made by Spalding... and also made of titanium, now that I think of it.  I still have them in my basement. I do bag a driving iron, but it's a one-trick-pony that never sees fairway use.
    • The last time I played Maxfli balls, Dunlop was still making them. How long ago was that? Mostly, though, I used to play Top Flites (original 336 dimple model) when Spalding was still making them. Now I play the Pro V1x. Last time that I ordered some, Titleist was still making them. Let's see how long that lasts.
    • Once, on a course in Middleton, Massachusetts that I used to love but has since closed down,  I hit the wrong half of a huge, UK style double green.  Then I made the hundred foot putt.  Tough to  forget that one.
    • No. But if I can still play next year, I'll almost certainly be even worse. That's the reality of not being young.🙁
    • I use GPS;  it may not be as accurate, but neither am I.
