Got some Ben Hogan Apex FTX irons. There my favourite irons, hard to use as they are musclebacks ( I think ) but so rewarding when you hit them well.

There forged irons but the club head seems to be coming away from the shaft. Are they on the way out?

If you look you can see the varying levels of deterioration between the head and shaft.

Thoughts?

The ferrule might just be moving up the shaft a little. Those often loosen and slide around a little bit before the clubheads do.

The downside is you have to take them off to replace them, but if they'll slide back down you can glue them in place. If the shaft between is starting to rust, though, you may just want to replace the shafts soon. The iron heads themselves are probably still fine.

(Have the lofts and lies checked when you re-shaft the irons.)

Thanks for the quick response, wasn't looking forward to updating my irons as I need to invest in quite a lot of new golf gear without adding a set of irons.
