I recently grabbed some simple video of my swing to check out my weight transitions but quickly focused on the casting I was doing. I ran back to the range to work on it but I quickly had the realization (be it right or wrong) that my chances of fixing this and continuing to play the kind of golf I am playing are low.  I've been playing like this for a long time and I can hit the ball pretty good, shoot in the low 80s or upper 70s so I believe that I will just keep doing what I am doing and manage it.

I do feel like now that I see it I will have a better chance of controlling my tempo etc knowing that if I get crazy it will only get worse and I won't be able to hit the ball at all.

Golf swings are all about what gets the ball from point A to point B but am I wrong (subjective I know) to ignore this and just keep on casting?

What kind if distances are you getting with your irons?

I know a flip crept into my swing at some point.  Cut my distance on my irons down quite a bit.  My PW went from 125-130 to about 110.

If you can hit the ball clean and far enough, I would probably not try to make a drastic change.  Just small changes.

FIX IT!

You may have some learning curve, but I gotta believe it will be worth it. And my bet is the learning curve may be two or three range visits. Your swing looks has some many good things expect for the huge casting problem. I can not think of one consistently good ball striker who flips early. Maybe you are the first, but I'm guessing your short game has saved your handicap plenty of rounds. How great would you be if you made excellent contact with the shaft in a proper position?

The fix: Tour Striker First read about it here and found it really helped me, and still helps me. Nothing to think about except leading with your hands. If you hit the ball in the air, great. If not, try again. I use this almost every round in warm ups. When I first got it, I could not get any balls airborne. Some weeks it still takes me up to ten balls before I rediscover the correct move. I love this aid.

Don't get discouraged if you can't get any balls airborne. It is made for those of us who flip. I have a friend who has tried mine and does not get the point. Every shot he hits with it is high and straight because he has great shaft lean. Every grounder I hit with my TS makes me happy that I bought it.

    • Yes, because you have lifted to like 120° without bending the left elbow. So when you turn and the left elbow bends… it bends in such a way that you then lower your left humerus and pull the club around you.

    • Day 292 6-23 Worked on wrist arching for a bit today and then some low point control.
    • Day 3 (23 Jun 26) - Grandson put in to play this morning when he arrived at the house.  He wanted to play a full 18 from the "purple" tees (these are custom tees that play shorter than our gold but longer than the red) in a best (super) ball duet.  Was a great day working on course management - seeing him play well (for a 10yr old) - for example, hole 12 has a temp green about 100 yds from the tee box, he hits a solid 8i to 4' pin high and nails a birdie putt.  Could have never been prouder.  These are the moments grandfathers dream of - and hopefully the memories he will recall when his day comes to be Paw-paw for his grandson....may the game live on.
    • Posted a couple swings here. I think my attempt to blend the movement still results in a more “around” back swing?
