I am just getting back in to golf and I bought a standard length set of clubs. I am noticing that I "top" quite a few of my iron shots. I measured from my wrist to the floor and came up with 36.5" and I am 6,0" tall. The chart says that I need a +.25" length club. My question is how much will that .25" affect my ball striking?

Caution! Wrist-to-floor is only a rough starting point for determining what shaft length and lie angle you need. Your address posture and how you move through the ball also are critical.

From what you wrote, you top some iron shots, but not all.

Have you had any tune-up lessons during re-entry? A pro might give you some insight on why you top the ball.

Focus, connect and follow through!

Yeah, the wrist to floor measurement is pretty rough. When I got fitted last summer, the chart said I need standard. But after hitting on a lie board and on the simulator, they ended up keeping my shafts at +1.0" and 2* upright, which sort of surprised me. When I set up with a standard club, the toe is generally up. But the setup doesn't matter, only impact position.

Yes, I had a lesson with a local Pro to help me straghten out my slice. He help me quite a bit on that. He told me that I was raising up on some of my shots and that if I was serious about getting back in to it, I could get fitted for some irons and that would probable help alot.

The proper length of club doesn't just depend on your wrist to floor measurement. It depends on other factors like

how erect your body is at setup

how far down the grip you normally hold the club

how much you bend your knees at address

Thanks for all the input. Just went yesterday and had a complete fitting. Went with the Cobra Baffler Hybrid set of irons. I hit their 7 longer than the Muzino 6. The irons felt real nice and also fit my budget. The fitting showed that I need a .75" longer shaft.
