I tried the King Cobra 400 SZ 10.5* with an Aldila tour 60 regular shaft (60g) which is the non-conforming model. I hit about 220-250 straight when i was hitting well. I would like to buy a new 10.5* King Cobra driver with the same shaft that is conforming and has very similar results to the 400 SZ (long straight drives, very nice sound and a very forgiving club face). If you could recommend one of the new King Cobras which is just like the 400 SZ could you please pm me or post here and tell me the name and average price of it. Thanks

I just bought the new Cobra F Speed LD for $200 on ebay. I can't wait to swing it. The New Cobra Speed drivers are tuned for swing types. F Speed is for 225 to 250 yard drive ranges. If you go to the Cobra site you can put your information in and it will specify which speed driver fits you best. Good Luck

The Speed LD does make a very annoying sound though. If youd like a Driver similar to the 400SZ try the King Cobra F-Speed, its an older model but almost similair to the driver you like. I think it retails now very cheap, where i live its around $228. Where you live it could be cheaper.

Hmm...I might just try and demo some cobra drivers or I might buy one that doesn't suit me. Do I just go into a pro shop that has them and ask them if I can try them out or do I have to pay?

You can't go wrong with a Speed LD.

I have a Speed LD M which I think is a little too flexible for my swing but I can still crank my drives out there.

It is incredibly forgiving and it is amazing how much this club helps.

Although the mishits really are annoying, they are loud and very rough on your hands.

I have 2 Cobra divers I'm looking to pass on. Cobra F Speed Ld and I Cobra HS9. The LD is a 9 degree with a 55 gram Aldila Speed Tuned reglular flex shaft. And the HS9 is 9.5 degree with a 65 gram Aldila NVS orange Stiff shaft with a new Winn grip. Both are in just below new condition and include the Headcovers. Let me know if your at all interested.

Thanks for the offer but I am going to go to a launch monitor first. I found that I hit the 10.5* really high in the air but got the distance so I need to see what degree and shaft I should e using also. How come you are getting rid of the ld f? It it not as good as the f speed?

Actually I just A SuperQuad from this website and the LD has regular flex shaft and I decided to go with a stiff flex. Let me know f your still interested down the road.

    • Day 27 - 2026-01-16 Played 18 with some of the usual "too many voices" going on when I'm working on swing stuff. Fun to get out in great bay area winter weather.
    • I know one recent college grad who's trying the same thing.  This guy was a Division III All-American, went on to play one year at Division I LSU, and is not working hard.  He won the Gulf States Open, a pro event, and made it to the second stage of the Korn Ferry Tour School late in the fall.  And didn't make the cut to get to the final stage.  I won't talk about swing or play stuff, but I believe there are a couple of things that are essential.  Obviously, talent, and drive, or work ethic.   I can't tell you how to do it, but you HAVE to get through it.  Golf is going to be your life, and it takes lots of work. Two more things that are really critical.  You'll need the facility to be able to practice.  My young friend stayed in Baton Rouge, as a past player on the team he can still use the LSU practice facilities.  And money.  Its unlikely you'll be able to work a full-time job and practice the way you will need to.  You'll probably need backing, from a parent, from a consortium of friends or club members., something to support you. Good luck, its not an easy path, but anything is possible.  Another young man from our area, Mike Brennan, just won for the first time on the "big" PGA Tour.
    • No one in the world is as smart as Phil thinks he is.
    • Get more comfortable with being uncomfortable. If you don’t like practicing then give up now. You don’t have the passion to become a pro. Unless that mentality changes you won’t do well under stressful situations.    Call the PGA Tour and ask. They probably have resources available.
