My instructor mentioned "keeping the ball lower", but we didn't have too much time to get into it. I think it was mostly in the context of weight transfer on the swing - perhaps that's the next lesson.

I used to have a similar problem.

To keep your low irons lower, put the ball a little further back in your stance (I play my wedges just off the inside of my right foot). Do this next time you are at the range: hit 10 balls with your PW while placing the ball in the middle of your stance. Then hit 10 balls a little further back in your stance, then 10 more even with your right foot. Take a mental note of the trajectories of each shot. Now, when you are on the course there is a time to keep the ball low, and a time to get it a little higher. When you line up a short iron shot visualize the trajectory you want, and think about how you want the ball to stop on the green (a rule of thumb is that higher ball flights will land softer, and vice versa).

    • Day 159 1-19 Flow drill while attempting to add arch in wrist on downswing. Not where it needs to be but felt good working on swing flow. 
    • Day 1 (19 Jan 26) - after a week lay-off due to travels, felt great to get in some drills in the backyard today.  Started with lead arm only short pitches focused on squared face and light divot post ball.  Haven’t done this in a while and it showed, with some skulls and slices.  Settled into easy flighted balls - wrapped up with standard two handed swings.  Good restart to the daily drills. 
    • That depends what you do within those two.  Are they your only options?   Check out Fit for Golf if you get a moment.  It's linked on the sidebar;  I did it for two years, stopped for a really bad reason, and I plan to get back to it soon.   Mike Carroll also has a great free podcast about a lot of topics in golf fitness. 
    • Day 19, 1/19.  Finished work in time to spend 25 minutes hitting balls (hit 15) indoors, off a mat, into the net.  Usual focus.    
    • Day 30 - 2026-01-19 Got 10 minutes in on the mat / net working on exagerrating movements I'm working on. And grip. Also worked with my friendly AI to summarize key negative tendencies I have so that I can build a personal checklist to follow. Will do more mirror work tonight.
