Hi, my name's Paul. Well, i got into golf this year, ten days ago to be exact when my dad took me for 18 holes for his birthday. I started out thinking i probably would be horrible at it and not like it, but i ended up being not too bad at it and loving it (i tied my dad on a few holes that day). Then last week i went to a par 3 course with two of my friends (it was their first time) and played 9 holes, and ended up getting on in 1 stroke and then making par (one of those putts where it just barely misses the hole). Anyway now i'm really into golf, and i figured i'd share my little story with whoever wants to read it to introduce myself.

Welcome, sounds like you got a good head start and better foundation than most beginners. Keep up the good work, golf is, in my opinion, overall the best sport.

Well i got instructed by my dad and his friend the first day and so i learned how to hold it correctly (the interlocking grip seems to work best for me, like my dad) and they told me to sweep the ball like a broom, and when i did just that rather than trying to put power into it it soared, and then i just sort of picked it up from there. I still only got 49 on a par 27 course, but i like it too much to let it bother me (that par was my best score, followed by one 4, and the rest were 5s, 6s, and 7s)

EDIT:
And thanks for welcoming me to the boards, hopefully i can learn some stuff here to get better.

    • Day 233 (22 Dec 24) - Very late afternoon session (after watching the PNC finish - much more entertaining than the Showdown) with the 50deg, hitting nippy low flighted chips.  Really focused on foot position and keeping swing smooth.   As light was fading fast and temps were heading south of freezing, session was pretty abbreviated.
    • Tiger’s walking at the PNC and people say he’s not limping.
    • I haven't heard much of anything about it. Faux leather, sure. Biodegradable leather? No. No idea. You're a bit too new, still, to post links.
    • Okay, I'm genuinely curious about this "biodegradable leather" trend in golf. Are we talking snake oil here? I mean, golf balls, clubs... they all end up in the water eventually. Is this just greenwashing, or is there actually a real environmental benefit? And honestly, does it even perform as well as traditional leather? I don't want to sacrifice distance for the planet, you know? Anyone with real-world experience with these eco-friendly golf goods? Spill the tea!
