whatever happened to "Golf's Longest Day"?

The last two years the Golf Channel has made a big deal out of the sectional qualifying day -- two Mondays before the U.S. Open when several 36-hole qualifiers are held. Covered them from dawn until after sundown (sometimes over-covered them). This past Monday TGC ran "Tin Cup" twice and barely mentioned the qualifiers on Golf Central.

Does anyone know why the change in coverage? A falling out between TGC and the USGA, perhaps? Lack of advertiser support?

Just askin'.

What's in the bag:
Driver: TaylorMade R9-460, 10.5 degrees, graphite shaft R flex
Hybrids: Kasco, 17 and 25 degrees, stock graphite shafts
Irons: MacGregor 1025 V-Foil forged irons, 4-PW, graphite shafts R, 2 degrees upright
Wedges: TaylorMade Black Oxide, 52, 56, and 60 degrees, graphite shafts
Putter: Rife Barbados mallet, 35 inches with SuperStroke 2.0 grip                                                                                                      Ball: Titleist AVX yellow

I would guess that it was expensive to fly everyone and broadcast from all of those locations. And it just wasn't worth it.
