Swing speed measurement

1 post in this topic

So last week I was at Golf Discount of St. Louis checking out a Callaway driver, and the tool that does all the analytics was behind me, as in along the target line but behind the ball a few feet. After a few swings I was clocking in around 95-99. Then today I was at Golfsmith (granted checking out another driver, an old Cleveland Launcher) and I was in the 85-89 range. This time the machine was just positioned about a foot in FRONT of impact, although of course off the target line. Why such a difference in speed? Which would be more accurate? I would think checking club head speed after impact would give a slower speed, but then, it is Golfsmith and this is what they do. Anyone?
