Hello everyone!

I am golf coach and instructor and just wanted to post my swing as I am in the process of rebuilding my swing.  I am currently working on trying to keep from crossing the line at the top and feel my backswing pivot is off which also contributes to a few issues in my downswing.

I look forward to everyone's take on my swing and interacting more on this site.

I've been Playing Golf for: 26 Years

My current handicap index or average score is: 1.3

My typical ball flight is: High Cut but trying to have a high draw

The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: Over Draw

Wes,

We have a video coming out that will be very interesting for you.

I'd trace back to A2.5 to 4 and start cleaning up those pieces. Will share some more thoughts later on…

Erik,

I am looking forward to seeing the video when it is ready and look forward to hear more of your thoughts about my swing.

@waltice1

So, even though it's close to "lining up" at A6, Wes, it's getting to that point very awkwardly with lots of compensations.

Erik,

Would you agree P4 is part of the problem?  Across the line at P4 would cause me to get steep at P5.  Then in order to get it to line up at P6 I have to add some right side bend and prematurely straighten my lead knee.

Look forward to your thoughts.

Also, I tried getting to a solid P4 position, then would hold that position for a 2 count then transition and hit the ball.  Seems like this gets me into a better P6 without it being to awkward.

Absolutely, yeah. I thought I was making that obvious but in hindsight, sorry, I hadn't. :)

Yes, more of those. I'd look to control it with the amount your left arm is turned (third accumulator type stuff). It counter-rolls a bit and gets you across the line, and your wrist conditions allow it, rather than feeling like the shaft is laying off.

A two-count is good to start but I'd love to see it reduced quickly to a half count if that: make a "practice backswing" and then, if it's good, fire the downswing pretty quickly with the club still feeling in that good position. If it wasn't good, re-set and make another practice backswing, and then again, if good, fire the downswing. Almost no pausing.

You have to learn to do it in motion eventually.

Thanks Erik!!

I also think that my right elbow maybe flexing too much at P3.5 - P4.  I was thinking I should feel it doesn't flex as much and also feel more left arm rotation to achieve the laid off feel.

Your thoughts?

You could flex it more, sooner (more by 2), but I wouldn't worry about changing it from 3.5-4. If it's over-flexing then that's because it's trying to catch up from not flexing much from 1-2.5.

    • Day 224: played 18. Got some stuff to work on. Hit some good shots though and made 2 birdies.
    • I am in the market to buy a new or mint+ used driver. I am a high handicap player that usually uses Regular Flex Men's 10.5 degrees and I golf right handed. I can't shot shape the ball and have trouble always hitting the ball in the center of the face and it usually goes off to the right and out of play. I am trying to hit straight all the time so I can hit more fairways, also on off center shots I would like the ball to be in play so I don't sacrifice strokes all the time. I usually look for forgiveness, distance a little distance lost is ok if I am hitting more fairways then that is what i want, adjustable or non adjustable is fine, price is also a factor around 100 but under 300. I also need help getting the ball in the ball in the air and going higher. Any recommendations or other help when buying a driver are welcome and thanks
