This is my youngest son (13) Vincents Golf swing.

He Says that he doesn't play golf, but he shot a 32 on our par 29 9 hole course  during a School competition earlier this year.

He plays Quarterback with the 16 year olds in our lokal American football team, and says that he wants to focus on that, (he's really really good at that too).

I would like him to play more golf any thoughts on how to do that?

Any thoughts on his swing?

I love this game, most days.

He has a natural swing that Jim McLean talks about that kids and a lot of people do who have not had a lot of training. He takes the club back low and then makes the move to bring it down steeply into the slot. It's called a reverse slot move. There's nothing wrong with it. What is important is that he's finding the slot. McLean mentions three ways of finding the slot. My guess is that your son doesn't practice golf a lot either. It's just not an orthodox swing. If he doesn't want to play golf seriously, I'd leave it alone. It's a swing he doesn't have to practice much. According to McLean, you can play reasonably good golf with it.

    • Day 211 (29 Nov 24) - Friday men’s round albeit a solo foursome (temps in the 40’s, day after Thanksgiving and the average age closer to 75 - I’m a youngster at 65).  Interesting day of semi-solid play (8 of 18 GIR). Hit all four par threes in one (a first) - parred each; still had a couple 3 putt bogies; and blew up on 3 of the par 5’s (go figure)). The blow ups were some serious tree rattlers - amplifying how I got stupid and greedy instead of smart and content to just get back in the short stuff.
