medicus swing trainer, be it a driver or a 5 or 7 iron have any of you tried these or have one....there is a copy model also which is the same too. I tried one lately and was able to swing it with no problem on the 1st time and just wanted to know what you guys thought... I can see how it could help a number of swing flaws and help some guys. I also saw where Taylor Made endorsed it as one of there favorite swing trainers.

I have this and dont use it religiously but will pick it up for 10 -15 min a day when I find my swing faultering. It helps me personally to stop taking the club back too far inside which I do when I am not playing well. I find it to also help my tempo.

tempo wise, this thing is really good for that and those jerky moves whether its the takeaway or at the top. the driver I was good with, its the iron I was thinking of getting as that one took a few more swings to get right. they must work, cause you sure don't see them on sale anywhere and there resale on ebay is really high. if it didn't work I would think that there would be more out there for resale, as thats a good indicator if a product is not worth anything...

I asked my club pro about them. He said they only fit 15% of peoples swings out of the package. He said otherwise they need to be adjusted to fit each person.
The teaching pro at Dick's said he has to "Cheat" it with his swing to get it to not break down.

I have been thinking about one for while but haven't grabbed one yet.

For tempo, I think The Whippy is much better. For everything else, I don't think the medicus is very good anyway.

on the 5 iron you can see right away if a person is too high at the top or has a low take away the club just wont work. and too if the club head is not in the right postion at the top it will break.. I also find that my swing is very close and the one thing it can't do is tell you if the head is square at impact unless you hit a few balls with it. but hitting alot of balls puts undue stress on the joints..
my avtar is swinging one as we speek and loves his......lol

If he has to cheat, isnt that kind of the point of the device, that he is then doing something wrong with his regular swing if it breaks?

His point was, it's not for everyone. He knows and teaches the golf swing for a living. He has a solid swing, he's not going to change his swing because a Mediucs tells him to. He did stess its very helpfull for many people, but not perfect.

few weeks ago...picked up a medicus at the golf mart and tried it out for the first time in their testing area....i was a bit hesitant at first...worried that the double hinges would bend and whack me upside the head....

anyways...i took a regular swing...surprisingly the the club remained stiff without "breaking"....and i was able to strike the balls just like any other iron...it's hefty and would be a decent training club to have...definitely keeps your swing "ideal"....

I have the driver. Not a good investment, if you ask me. I don't have much problem with swing plane, so all it does for me is force my swing to slow down. I'll hit a weak hook that travels about 120 yards when I try to hit balls with it. Money is better spent on lessons.

I completely understand that now. I definatly misinterpereted the point he was trying to make

    • Day 22 - 2026-01-11 More mirror work. Back outdoors tomorrow.
    • Day 11, 1/11/26.  Today was putting, along about 6' of carpet, with coins on the ground to keep me cognizant of what I'm doing.  I think this is the at-home drill from LSW. (Ugh, missed two of the last four days -- 1/10 and 1/8)
    • Day 9: 2026.01.11 Hit some balls at the range, concentrating on weight distribution at address, got some on film.
    • Day 468 - 2026-01-11 Loooooong day. Did some work in the patio door (as a mirror) when I got home.
    • I caught a video on this driver; the face tech seems crazy. Looking at the heat map for ball speed, hitting it basically anywhere on the face only loses a few percent ball speed. The surprising and counter intuitive part to me was that for flat faced clubs, ball speed loss is directly proportional to distance loss. For clubs with bulge and roll this is apparently not true. The surprising part of that story being that the max distance potential looks to be a tiny pee sized area for this driver, and I feel in general for drivers. The counter intuitive part being (the myth?) that blade irons have a pee sized sweet spot and missing that tiny spot causes dramatic losses. And that modern drivers, maybe 2017 on, have massive sweet spots and are ultra forgiving. Where in reality, if this heat map data is valid and reliable, it might be a bit of the opposite. This insane tech driver appears to have a pea sized "sweet spot" while Mizuno Pro 241 irons are 28% more forgiving compared to the average of all clubs measured. Not compared to other players irons, compared to all clubs from all categories, players to SGI! The Pro 241 being essentially just a solid chunk of metal with no "tech" at all. Which for me devolves into a whole mess of what is forgiveness really? And in measurable and quantifiable results how many yards, or feet, does that translate into?
